Do the following. Make sure you download the correct version of 5.1.1 for your phone. It sounds like you downloaded the wrong version.last night around 10:30 pm EST i used absinthe 2.0 to jailbreak my iphone and it worked! but stupid of me around 11:50 pm EST i restored my newly jailbroken phone using itunes and it installed ios 5.1.1 with the new build, I noticed it immediately so i tried to restore to the old build on ios 5.1.1......but everytime i tried it said "the phone could not be restored because the firmware file is not compatible"
HOW DO I DOWNGRADE TO THE OLD IOS 5.1.1?

If your iphone is GSM here is the direct download of 9B206 from Redmondpie, it worked for me last night just hold shift when you hit restore in itunes Iphone 4(GSM) IOS 5.1.1(9B206)

hi, i unfortunately upgraded to 9B208 however when i tried to restore it to 9B206 i received an error stating 'the iphone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred(3014). Can somebody help me ?

I already hady phone unlocked with SAM from att to tmobile around April 25, but when I updated to 5.1.1 it erased everything and I can get SAMprefs to work anymore....any help?
SAMSpref to work in what way? What are you trying to do? Your unlock was a software unlock? Or an hardware unlock with the state saved in SAMSprefs?
It was a problem for me last night. When I updated my iPhone 4 GSM last night, it updated to build (9B208). Neither Absinthe 2.0 or 2.0.1 worked with build 9B208 last night for me... and got the same error as the thread title. After downloading the 5.1.1(9B206) restore .ipsw file, and restored to build 9B206. Absinthe 2.0.1 worked fine for me.
You had to back up your activation tickets via redsn0w when that was around.. so that you could restore the unlock when you had another jailbreak..
I just remembered my Time Machine Backup. I'm going to try restoring the ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup to the latest Time Machine backup. Then look in iTunes preferences at my last iPhone backup. Losing a couple of days of photos and SMS messages is better than losing them all.
Were you able to restore eventually? I've been having the same issue where my iPhone won't restore from backup, and unfortunately I haven't synced my photos in a couple months.

I was not able to restore from a recent backup. The last viable backup I had was from November. I lost 7 months.
