It will probably take a couple of weeks for the ridiculous offers to lower. Right now everyone with an iPad 2 on Craigslist is hoping that the buyer doesn't know about the price drop.

I sold my iPad 1st Gen 16GB WiFi for $300 a few weeks ago and plan to pick up a similar iPad 2 on craigslist for my young son. People are CL are asking ridiculous prices for iPad 2's right now. I assumed the price would plummet. Maybe after launch day?

iPad 2 pricing is said to be going down by $100...

Wait until you can just pick up an iPad 2 for $100 cheaper...

Well, I and everyone else pretty much assumed the iPad 2 would get a $100 price reduction. So I was fully expecting to get be able to pick up a used iPad 2 for well under $400. People are asking more than retail right now in some cases. Crazy. I'm sure the price will go down on 3/17 when all the used iPad 2's hit the market.

Avoid the used market, since Apple sells the 16gb 2 for $349 refurb, full warranty, new battery, new shell. I wouldn't buy used for more than $250-275.

yeah, that's insane!

American scalpers probably won't benefit but foreigners can still benefit. Many of them may be using cash so they have to wait for launch to pay at the store.

I read an article that China doesn't have a release date so if that's true, I'll bet the line at launch will be filled with Chinese resellers.

:mad::mad::mad:
OP obviously hasn't checked the Hong Kong website. iPads preorders sold out within 10 minutes because of the exploit that lets people buy more than 2 per credit cards. I saw many people brag on Facebook that they managed to order 10-20 iPads before they became unavailable.

china has a very high demand and they are not being released there anytime soon. There will be scalpers and long lines at the Apple store come launch day lol as usual.

Already have mine set for China :) I'll let you know how it goes.

2x 16 GB 4G iPad 3.

Hoping to get atleast double what I paid.

We are now into the 2nd day, and Apple.com still shows all models with launch day delivery.

I tried to place a mock order (Didn't click confirm) and the website operated smooth and fast.

Apple obviously made plenty of iPads to go around this year and/or the demand for iPad 3 is lower.

As long as we all can get our hands on the iPads that's all that matters. Doesn't matter what anyone does with it after purchase.

but with other countries getting them simultaneously, the US scalpers will not likely be as concentrated. it will cost less to get an ipad from the EU to China than from the US. The scalping operations will likely recruit in the EU aggressively.

Its the international buyers who are going to be the ones who are willing to pay extra $$$ after launch day.

that would suck!

I bought 2 just to sell on ebay and than take that profit and hopefully get a free ipad 3!!!

The difference between this launch and other recent ones (iPad 2 and iPhone 4S for example) is that there was very little time between announcement and preorders starting.

The iPad 2 had over a week for people to hear about it and make up their minds to buy. With the 4S it was a couple of days.

With this going on sale so soon, there will have been people who won't even have known that the preorders had started. You just can't compare the releases because of this.

That isn't to say that they haven't got the stock, but the fact that it took longer to backorder isn't that relevant.

Perhaps more relevant is that now, a week before release (and before the 4S had comparatively even gone on sale as an example), shipments are already starting to slip. In the UK it is 2-3 weeks already.

Meh I did the line and waiting thing once before, no more. I will wait a month or two when all the hoopla fades away..Patience is a good thing.

Your right, the 2-3 weeks just happened for US orders as well.

iPad doesn't have a release date in China, and Apple Hong Kong aren't accepting anymore pre-orders at all.
There will be a bunch of chinese on craigslist buying them at a premium price and sending them back to China.
The demand in China is going to be crazy.

The Chinese are wild. They sell organs for iPads and fight wars with eggs to buy them. I would be scared to have one in China. Lol

Ever been to the 'hood in any major US city? Scares me to death just walking there, much less with an iPad. Nowhere in China comes even remotely close.

Anyway, it'll be interesting to see how this plays out. China demand will be alleviated somewhat by the simultaneous launch in HK this year, although the 4G models won't be available on launch day. I suspect the Chinese scalper force will still be out in foreign countries hoping to make a quick buck, but the margins will be a lot thinner this year and the window of opportunity a lot smaller. I personally find no moral issues with scalping, it's just a little annoying that real Apple fans have to wait because of a few people trying to make a small profit.

when u first release a product that you will never know how good the sales will be,
you wont produce batches consisting thousands, because you're just asking for trouble.

after ipad 1 n 2, im sure they've supplied enough, that they dont just put us first in line, but the number of countries have increased too for the first batch.

just because they are well prepared, doesnt mean there is a low demand, hello?!?! what about the shortage now and considered its in a spread of other countries.
