how easily those macbooks (12") are scratched? the problematic area is this one

I sent with silver becuase I prefer the classic look. The space grey remined me too much of those fake steel nails that the hardware stores sell. I'm sure to many it looks great, but I buy a Mac because I want a Mac, and the silver one screams classic Mac.

These computer generated images look so perfect.
But the images I've seen of them on the frontpage, they make the silver look too white for me.
I just love the space grey

I would recommend everyone look in store to make a decision. The images Apple has up on its website make the space gray look a lot darker than it actually is. (Unless they went with a darker shade than the MacBook that I don't know about?)

I agree, looking at them in the Apple store before buying makes sense.
 
I went with the Space Grey since all my other Apple devices, aside from the iMac, are also space grey. Space Grey iPhone 7 - well that's pretty much black now, Space Grey iPad Mini 4, iPad Pro 9.7, and Apple Watch. Just like the way it looks.
 
I think if they were both new colors I'd take the Silver. However, since the silver Macbook's been out for so long I went with the space gray. The Space Gray looks very professional and more importantly not like the older models.

I looked pretty hard at the store yesterday. Space Grey has a black mirror apple logo, Silver has almost a straight mirror finish apple logo. Silver's apple very nice, but doesn't contrast off the lid as much as the black MacBook Pro does.

Here are some pics. I didn't think to take a pic of the Silver's logo at the time

The first picture looks so sleek
 
About 10 years ago, there were some issues on sweat changing the color of the palm rest area. Some users reported ugly looking discoloration spots on the palm rest area. How about the 2016, 2017 models? Do space gray and silver versions discolor over time? When the computer get scratched, are the scratches on the space gray models more visible than on the silver models?
 
I chose Space Grey, just couldn't resist it. It looks bad ass.

Though now, as someone who's had a Mac for almost a decade I feel I should have stuck with silver to signify my initial entry into Apple back when the Aluminium MB's were released. Nostalgia.

I've had my space gray MBP since launch day and so far there has been no discernible wear or scuffing on the palm rests (where the most friction typically occurs).

I did clumsily drop the computer (while it was closed) on tile from about four feet, and you can see the exposed silver on a corner where it's dented. But the scratch/dent needs to be very deep, as I can only see space gray along the "spine" of the computer on the other end where it was scratched.
