I, like some other people have posted, really wonder what they were thinking with this launch. I think that they did something that looked "really good on paper" in terms of logistics and saving money, but resulted in a lot of things that just didn't make sense with an Apple launch.
I say that because I don't really think that any other product launch would be an issue with people not getting things on day one or with people who ordered after others in different parts of the country getting them first. But this is an Apple launch and people are actually tracking flights from the orient into Anchorage Alaska because they want to know exactly what is going on...so with that in mind, decisions that look good on paper or that "no one will ever know about" don't really fly here...
Maybe that is why so many people are blaming Angela. I honestly don't know who's fault some of these things are but they just don't fit with the usually smooth Apple experience.
In all honesty, it looks like everyone is going to get their watches much sooner than quoted, but that is a deterioration of the "Apple Way" despite it is an improvement on everyone else model, and that is why it doesn't work.
I guess people expect more of Apple and when they can't deliver, we get upset.
You have to be trolling with this post. Either that or you are the worst person on Earth.
And you're all really happy with the service you are receiving...? That's not the general impression I am getting though from the SG 42mm replies here. Most of you, like me, placed your order pretty much as soon as you were able to and don't have a watch. Most also have little idea (except it wasn't on launch day) when you'll be getting one.. Well that describes my situation too, so if most of you are happy with that then I may need to reconsider and apologise to Tim for emailing him to let him know I was personally disappointed.![]()

Shipped!!!! 42mm SG ordered at 12:04:26, charged last night, shipping notification received this morning.
I don't think this launch has been "bad" as people knew by their estimated delivery that it was not launch day delivery, but we have been spoiled by Apple. They know how to mass produce iPhones so they can launch with 2-3 million people getting it on launch day.
In my opinion, for the watch, I think a longer preorder window would have helped them see what configurations were most popular and then they could have adjusted manufacturing accordingly. The iPad first gen, was available 3 weeks prior to release and the 3G version was available for preorder a month and a half prior.
I think we're all learning a bit more about why we spend money when people are threatening to cancel just because they didn't get it on launch day... Why buy a $500-$1000 dollar watch if having it just one particular day is the reason you want it?
I had originally ordered the 38 mm sg at 03:11 EST on the 10th with shipping dates of 5/13-5/27, but cancelled it yesterday and ordered the 42mm version b/c I felt the screen would just be too small. Now I have a june shipping date. Yes, I know that might have been a dumb move in terms of getting it sooner, but does anyone think I'll get it before June? I'm hopeful some sort of miracle will happen.
Seeing a pending charge on my CC that wasn't there yesterday. Dated 4/24.
