Nope, I still don't get it. Don't play video games and I hate modern movies that only exist to show off what they can do with CG.ok think of it like this...
a new Street fighter Game for the PS4 has been announced 2 years ago....this past september its announced on april 24th the game will be released and preorders begin april 10th....people preorder on 4/10 and expect their game to arrive on the 24th. little do they know that the company hugely underestimated the demand for the game and so only a handful get the game on launch while everyone else gets their orders trickled in around june, maybe a few weeks earlier.
understand his statement now? replace the video game analogy i used above for a preorder of a bluray set, or for avengers age of ultron imax tickets, or concert tickets etc....get it now?
Or was the technology really not far enough along to go to manufacturing?I just don't understand why there weren't more available at the time of launch. Their research was really this far off the mark?

This person above has it SPOT ON. Couldn't have said it better! A production ramp haaassss to be in the works for there to be public announcements to shareholders regarding US in store inventory and more notable the second wave of countries to roll out. By months end I'm confident there's going to be a ton of movement on all watches. It's the only way they COULD make public announcements like that. They may have botched the initial release but they surely aren't going to make the same mistake twice.
The only caveat I can see is June 30th is technically still 'June' therefore giving them 8 weeks to comply with said promises to shareholders as opposed to 3 weeks being June 1st. I don't expect either but I think mid-June is the safe bet. Even with the first initial in store pick up dates being June 1-12. Though they can't be chosen quite yet; it's in black and white. That wouldn't be there unless there was a clear plan to provide that.
Now they have launch numbers and can better guess demands for styles, it's time to build the ever living hell out of these things.
I ordered a 42mm SG BSB (as a lot of people did & have since found out that: wow we're faaarrr behind) on the morning of April 11th and still have a very vague 'June' shipment.
I spoke with an Apple rep today and she told me they're expecting to give delivery date ranges in the next week or so for first weekend pre-order customers. Again confirming my possible suspicions that Apple Stores are getting an in-store pick up date range at the beginning to mid June and that we'll probably be getting a similar date range. She of course would't confirm or deny that particular question but again did say they're fully expecting to at least get delivery dates in order for 4/10, 4/11, & 4/12 pre-orders.
Maybe that helps some of you! Sort of did me. Let's see how spot on she was...
I was told basically the same exact thing yesterday. I have a 4/12 order. I'd really like to see something other than "Available to ship: June" when I look at my account early next week.
Apple seems to be making some big promises to their stockholders for the month of June. After leading us to believe we'd be all be wearing watches on our wrist 4/24, you'd think they'd have learned their lesson about making bold predictive statements.
No shipment notifications again today? 5 UPS flights into Louisville last night and another due to land in the next 2 hours. I know the end is in sight but the lack of action is pretty discouraging nonetheless.
No notifications here either. I checked last night before bed (around 1am EST) and this morning at about 9am EST and nothing.
I'm discouraged too. It's like grieving, I'm done being angry that they'll soon be available for "In Store Pick Up" and I'm STILL waiting for a preorder that I placed on 4/10 and 4/11.
Personally, I've pretty much given up on Apple on waiting for this order and have decided that if I can buy it on Craigslist for a reasonable price, then re-sell my pre-order when it finally comes in, I will.

Seriously? You can't wait what amounts to a few days for your watch? You're willing to pay a premium of likely $100, or maybe more, just to have one on your wrist today?
Just take a deep breath, keep your $100 and wait for your order to complete.
I haven't checked Craigslist but I know on eBay they're going for between $700-$900. Another member posted that they're REALLY pushing for June to be a big launch in other countries and to offer in store pick up which means I'm HOPING there is a HUGE fulfillment wave coming in. 5 planes last night and 2 today and some other members posted more over the weekend so here's to hoping!
