ok think of it like this...

a new Street fighter Game for the PS4 has been announced 2 years ago....this past september its announced on april 24th the game will be released and preorders begin april 10th....people preorder on 4/10 and expect their game to arrive on the 24th. little do they know that the company hugely underestimated the demand for the game and so only a handful get the game on launch while everyone else gets their orders trickled in around june, maybe a few weeks earlier.
understand his statement now? replace the video game analogy i used above for a preorder of a bluray set, or for avengers age of ultron imax tickets, or concert tickets etc....get it now?
Nope, I still don't get it. Don't play video games and I hate modern movies that only exist to show off what they can do with CG.

As for movie tickets if I did want to go and it was sold out today ther would be another show later today or tomorrow.

Concert tickets there is only a limited supply. If demand outsells availability they can't make more seats tomorrow can they? :p

----------

I just don't understand why there weren't more available at the time of launch. Their research was really this far off the mark?
Or was the technology really not far enough along to go to manufacturing?

Remember the stories about the first Keynote for the iPhone? They were not certain that they had enough functional prototypes to even pull of the event. Products are announced before they sort out all the problems.

April 10th, 3:04 or so, still nothing

Congrats to those that have watches on the way. When I ordered my watch, April delivery was still showing, by the time I was done with confirmation, the famous May 13-27. And still nothing. Has anyone found any patterns? Personally it doesn't feel like a first come first served. :(

They had an issue with one of their distributors of the Tactic engine module. They have two distributors that make them and one of them had bad modules that wore out too fast and didn't fall within specs, so according to online they just threw away the Apple Watchs that had the bad tactic engine module in them.

I ordered a 42mm SG BSB (as a lot of people did & have since found out that: wow we're faaarrr behind) on the morning of April 11th and still have a very vague 'June' shipment.

I spoke with an Apple rep today and she told me they're expecting to give delivery date ranges in the next week or so for first weekend pre-order customers. Again confirming my possible suspicions that Apple Stores are getting an in-store pick up date range at the beginning to mid June and that we'll probably be getting a similar date range. She of course would't confirm or deny that particular question but again did say they're fully expecting to at least get delivery dates in order for 4/10, 4/11, & 4/12 pre-orders.

Maybe that helps some of you! Sort of did me. Let's see how spot on she was...

Been reading this thread, but this is my first post in it.

Ordered the 42 SG BSB with email confirm 4/10 at 03:22am PST. Got the June estimate and laters changed to the May 29-June 11.

Just read that guys post about Apple making supply chain accomodations to help speed up with order processing. I'm thinking that even if he doesn't really know what he is saying that it has to be true in some sense.

Apple at some point incredibly soon is going to have to ramp up production severely. Not only to catch up on the pre-orders (I mean they are not even 10 minutes deep ffs), but they have put themselves on the spot by publicly announcing two several key pieces of info. One is that they plan to expand to additional countries in June and that would simply be wreckless behaviour if they couldn't ramp up production and clear pre-orders.

Second, they have said that they plan to begin offering the watch in US stores during the month of June as well.

Almost all preorders left to fulfill extend to June.
Apple watch available in stores in June.
Launch Apple watch in new territories in June.

It seems that Apple has hinted (aside from being super obvious), that supply is going to be severely ramped up and it probably is already happening. Particularly for one of their most popular offerings, the Space Gray Sport.

Point being, I would expect that this next week is going to begin to bring A LOT of movement for order fulfillment the days of 30-60 seconds of orders a day are very close to being over.

HANG IN THERE FOLKS!!

This person above has it SPOT ON. Couldn't have said it better! A production ramp haaassss to be in the works for there to be public announcements to shareholders regarding US in store inventory and more notable the second wave of countries to roll out. By months end I'm confident there's going to be a ton of movement on all watches. It's the only way they COULD make public announcements like that. They may have botched the initial release but they surely aren't going to make the same mistake twice.

The only caveat I can see is June 30th is technically still 'June' therefore giving them 8 weeks to comply with said promises to shareholders as opposed to 3 weeks being June 1st. I don't expect either but I think mid-June is the safe bet. Even with the first initial in store pick up dates being June 1-12. Though they can't be chosen quite yet; it's in black and white. That wouldn't be there unless there was a clear plan to provide that.

Yeah at first I though "that's ridiculous, they are already talking about releasing this thing in new countries?!?! how can they do that if I don't have my own watch first?!?! Wait......now they want to put them IN STORES and possibly before most people even have them in their hands?!?!?!... HULK SMASHHHHH "

Then I sat back, realized what they were saying, and took it as a pretty big sign of confidence. Now they have launch numbers and can better guess demands for styles, it's time to build the ever living hell out of these things.

So much fun being test subjects to figure out what their highly paid executives should have anticipated. I remember a company who used to do this with their products, test and figure out the kinks in the wild, their name was Microsoft. I dumped them for similar reasons.

No shipment notifications again today? 5 UPS flights into Louisville last night and another due to land in the next 2 hours. I know the end is in sight but the lack of action is pretty discouraging nonetheless.

I was told basically the same exact thing yesterday. I have a 4/12 order. I'd really like to see something other than "Available to ship: June" when I look at my account early next week.

Apple seems to be making some big promises to their stockholders for the month of June. After leading us to believe we'd be all be wearing watches on our wrist 4/24, you'd think they'd have learned their lesson about making bold predictive statements.

Just placed an order for a 38mm SG BSB with a June 4-17 delivery window. My reasoning is I'll likely get another in a year or two and the 42mm will look silly on one of the kids' wrists. That being said, if my 42mm with the generic "June" delivery gets here first, I'll likely keep it.

Be careful, I've been slammed before for making such statements. I agree with you that they should have learned their lesson. Sadly I don't know if they have. This is not their first new product launch in a new product line, it's just poor production and supply chain planning and management all around.

No notifications here either. I checked last night before bed (around 1am EST) and this morning at about 9am EST and nothing.
I'm discouraged too. It's like grieving, I'm done being angry that they'll soon be available for "In Store Pick Up" and I'm STILL waiting for a preorder that I placed on 4/10 and 4/11.

Personally, I've pretty much given up on Apple on waiting for this order and have decided that if I can buy it on Craigslist for a reasonable price, then re-sell my pre-order when it finally comes in, I will.

Seriously? You can't wait what amounts to a few days for your watch? You're willing to pay a premium of likely $100, or maybe more, just to have one on your wrist today?

Just take a deep breath, keep your $100 and wait for your order to complete.

I haven't checked Craigslist but I know on eBay they're going for between $700-$900. Another member posted that they're REALLY pushing for June to be a big launch in other countries and to offer in store pick up which means I'm HOPING there is a HUGE fulfillment wave coming in. 5 planes last night and 2 today and some other members posted more over the weekend so here's to hoping!

Yes, seriously. I won't get my pre-order until 2 months after 4/10, which I find to be disappointing and excessive for a pre-order wait time. Sorry if my choice is a problem for you. And don't be a jerk, buddy.

Realistically, I think you're only setting yourself up for disappointment. Apple appears pretty incapable of building enough watches fast enough to pull that off.

38mm SG

I preordered the 38mm SG in the early hours on April 10th, then on April 24th I ordered a white sport to see which I could get faster.

This morning the white sport changed to preparing to ship and the SG is still processing.
