It seems safe to say that the black sport band is the reason for delays. From what I've seen both the SG with the black sport band and the SS with black sport band seem to be the most delayed models. Hopefully if this really is the cause for the delays apple can fix this issue quickly.

Why can't they just tell us?

I would be okay knowing they made a mistake and need to reopen all the boxes and replace the bands, but this wait is kind of getting to me.

Probably why my Space Grey won't reach me until June 4th

Hope it is figured out by then.

i cant believe that is really happening.....
do you think, that everithing about pilling from black bands is true?

anybody who got the watch has the same issue?

most popular model and now this.... cant believe, really

this make me to cancel my order for SG, and go for SS steel white bands....

I didn't even want the black band. I just want the SG sport body. I plan on buying a ML loop for it later.

You've been on hold for a while now, buddy...Any updates, or was the call not fruitful?

Had a long talk with the senior adviser, nothing as of yet. They transferred me over to a member in the sales department to issue a "replacement device", but the shipping quote they gave me wasn't until June. To be honest, I was disappointed. I said scrap that, and I ended up following up again with the Apple Senior Adviser. She said she'll resolve this for me, but will have to follow up again on Tuesday the 28th.

This is really frustrating.

Yup, noticed this with my black band too. My watch is perfect though.

Just talked to an Applecare rep and emailed him pics of my band as he requested. Will let you guys know what comes out of this.

UPDATE:

I just got a call back from my contact at Applecare and he stated that it is normal wear and tear. I then re-iterated that this is happening on a 3 day old product. He then suggested I update him in a week and let him know if this issue gets worse.

If anyone here can chime in on the condition of their bands, this will surely help us figure this out. Greatly appreciated.

We probably would see more complaints about this, but unfortunately most people don't have their SG yet. Maybe Apple noticed this last minute. It is strange how most SG and pinks aren't shipping. I haven't seen anyone receive their pink yet.

My wife's pink watch is in transit and due to arrive Wed.

I have a SG Black Band with no peeling at all.

Sorry to hear this is happening to others.

I think that's a good thing. Hopefully it just means a bad batch and they will get replaced. It worse if everyone's does it and they say it's not a problem

The only thing I've seen mentioned more than once, prior to the picture of peeling above, was marks that were showing up on the black band, but only on the wrist facing side or where the two rub together, but still out of sight while wearing it.

If the peeling was very widespread I think I'd have seen more pictures like that. Maybe that was a "bad" band that got manufactured, something didn't cure, or something (I know nothing about manufacturing bands, ok?).

At least it's just a band replacement. I fully expect Apple to make it right, especially in these early days.
