Beautiful, it works wonderful with the right audio files/tracks
I’ll probably need to read more but I was expecting spatial audio by Dolby Atmos To feature head tracking but not found Apple Music songs to have this.
Also super annnoyed any downloaded songs that have Dolby Atmos - looses that for saved on device playlists. When travelling I don’t wish to use up my monthly data just streaming. Anyone else finding this?
It ruins songs, trust me someone that has been in music production for years it makes songs sound like they are demos and give you a fake surround sound that ruins the original song;
Someone in music production for years, I’m kinda shocked. As an early teen I specifically had a conversation with friends whom were DJ’s or built car stereo systems asking about creating speakers that were arranged in height in a room or car or club where Bass is low to the ground, Mids at shoulder height, and Highs from the sealing. They laughed at me told me you wouldn’t hear a difference - but that was my idea of what we have now with Spatial Audio (in my mind, describing it was terrible).
I’m guessing you’ve heard poor examples. Not sure if you have a recording studio at your leisure with Dolby Atmos Plug-ins for your setup and if you’ve found experiences with audio recording sources:
1. Older pre spatial recorded tracks,
2. fresh new recordings implemented from inception of written music, lyrics, instrumental sessions all recorded with spatial audio in mind from the start,
3. Recently recorded at high fidelity and just some how ‘re-imagined’ for lack of a better description.
Not sure if this will sound great or if this is a gimmick?
Depends on the track itself really:
Older tracks if recorded in analog with high quality and preserved before going digital at lossless I think will have the best Dolby Atmos transition.
- I’ve found that to be true with many Marvin Gaye tracks and the top of Motown artists songs.
Songs recorded but not at such a high level will come across ‘tiny’ to my ears:
examples:
Rolling Stones - Angie ; I was shocked considering the globally age timeless popular group, super tiny! I’ve never heard this song before so if someone knows this track better let me know if it’s always sounded like this.
Bon Jovi - Wanted, Dead or Alive, album: Slippery When Wet; sounds rich on iPad Pro 2018 yet I don’t ‘hear’ separation that is glorified by Apple. To me just sounds better than when I heard the sony on MiniDisc or Maxell cassettes on a 1996 bookshelf cassette deck speaker system.
