Force ghosts don’t even approach the uncanny valley. They’re not trying to be a pin sharp hologram of a person, they’re just trying to be that force ghost that folks are already used to only sorta kinda looking like people.

I think what is quite telling about the state of the AVP is this article's comments:
On a site that can generate thousands of views and hundreds of comments, for Apple's latest and greatest to only generate 33 odd posts says something.
Just look back a couple weeks… just mention the AVP (and boy, did MacRumours ever!) and you'd have a 500 post count.
Now?
The general interest has gone. The enthusiasm has dissipated.
