I utilize the inCase pouch and put my MacBook in my bag, so far it has been good for me. The pouch protects it from damage, and I try not to drop my bag all over the place.

i bought a spek satin case to go on my UMB and it didnt fit in my Timbuk2 laptop sleeve any more. it also made my macbook look cheap and it didnt fit very well.

I personally kinda hate my incase hardshell on my whitebook. I hope they changed... idk, maybe it was just my macbook, but I pretty much broke my macbook in the process of taking it off for cleaning and then the clips that hold it on started breaking... I was pretty pissed I spent $50 on a P.O.S. chunk of plastic

Ive had a Speck Satin on my alu macbook for almost 4 months now and took it off for the first time yesterday after reading this thread to give the machine a clean and inspect for these "scratches" which everyone speaks about.

Result - not a single mark. My Alu Mac looks as pristine as the day that I bought it.

Im very happy with the Speck Satin.

I find that extremely hard to believe. No matter where you put it dust will get in between the case and macbook and cause scuffs. This is an issue with all hardshell cases.

Well im sorry to hear of your disbelief, but I can assure you sir, that this is a fact.

I find it extremely hard to believe that "dust" is causing scuffs on your aluminum macbook. If it is simply dust getting there, it's not going to scratch or scuff a metal cased computer, plain and simple. If you're getting something more than just dust in there (perhaps sand or metal filings or something), then I might believe that the scuffs are caused by particles getting trapped between the hard shell case and the laptop.

If you read any of the reviews on ANY of these hardshell cases it's a well known FACT that they will cause scratches or scuffs on the bottom case or top case. You should really look into reading the reviews on the Apple store website or any other site.

when you buy an apple product you're paying a premium for the design of the machine. throwing on one of these types of (ugly) cases on your MacBook or iPhone/iPod doesn't make much sense. just get a bag for it.

Yes, I had experience with this and my last white mackbook. When I bought the new aluminum one, I read a thread here that had a very good suggestion which I followed. Before installing the hard cover case (Speck or Incase), apply one of those thin film covers to the exterior (e.g. Bodyguardz). Then install the case on top of that. The thin film protects from dust getting trapped inside the the hard case. And the hard casing protects from external damage. It's a really good solution.

I just ordered my Aluminum MacBook. What company would you say to order the thin covers from? Also, since I would be using a cover would I still have to wipe it down to get rid of dust while using a hardshell? Thanks
