Ive had a Speck Satin on my alu macbook for almost 4 months now and took it off for the first time yesterday after reading this thread to give the machine a clean and inspect for these "scratches" which everyone speaks about.
Result - not a single mark. My Alu Mac looks as pristine as the day that I bought it.
Im very happy with the Speck Satin.
I find that extremely hard to believe. No matter where you put it dust will get in between the case and macbook and cause scuffs. This is an issue with all hardshell cases.

Well im sorry to hear of your disbelief, but I can assure you sir, that this is a fact.
I find it extremely hard to believe that "dust" is causing scuffs on your aluminum macbook. If it is simply dust getting there, it's not going to scratch or scuff a metal cased computer, plain and simple. If you're getting something more than just dust in there (perhaps sand or metal filings or something), then I might believe that the scuffs are caused by particles getting trapped between the hard shell case and the laptop.
I just ordered the Speck Satin as well.

If you read any of the reviews on ANY of these hardshell cases it's a well known FACT that they will cause scratches or scuffs on the bottom case or top case. You should really look into reading the reviews on the Apple store website or any other site.
Yes, I had experience with this and my last white mackbook. When I bought the new aluminum one, I read a thread here that had a very good suggestion which I followed. Before installing the hard cover case (Speck or Incase), apply one of those thin film covers to the exterior (e.g. Bodyguardz). Then install the case on top of that. The thin film protects from dust getting trapped inside the the hard case. And the hard casing protects from external damage. It's a really good solution.
