May as well concur since I just got my case... the Pixelskin HD for the iPhone 5 is not as good as the iPhone 4 version, being slightly too large. I'm quite disappointed as the snugness is what sold me on the brand in the first place. This'll have to hold me over until I find a replacement.

Well this sucks, Amazon have now said my order will be dispatched between the 31st of October and the 10th of DECEMBER! Time to cancel and go to a brick and mortar store and see if they have and cases...

I just received my Pixelskin HD case for my iPhone 5 and it fits tight, actually it fits better than my 4S case did. I was worried after reading this thread. I will give it a few days and report back if something changes but for now I'm happy with the fit.

This was the case I used on the 4S and I loved it. Considering it for my 5. How does it compare to the ngp or grip candy in terms of thinness?

Overall I'm pretty happy with this case. I see what people are talking about with the looseness -- if I manipulate the edges, there's definitely some give. But it's not a dealbreaker for me because it's only really noticeable if you're trying to test the edges. I don't notice any looseness during normal use of the phone. It's not any harder or easier to put the phone in or remove it than with my previous Pixelskin HD for the iPhone 4.

The problem might be that the case is noticeably stiffer than the case for the 4 was, so there's not as much give when you're touching the edges.

But where I'm really liking this case is in the thinness. The thinness of the phone was a big selling point for me, and I was initially concerned that a case would detract from that. The Belkin TPU case I used while waiting for this one was definitely thicker. There's also definitely a lip above the edge of the screen, so there is some protection there.

Looks-wise, I'm glad they moved the Speck branding from the back of the case to the side.

I guess my only disappointment is that it doesn't fit quite as precisely as it should. I imagine it's something they'll fix in later production. But it's really not that bad, and doesn't detract from my experience in any way.

Finally got mine today. I bought the blue one. It's not quite as dark a blue as the pic on their website made it out to be. A little more royal blue than I'd like

The case feels good and the fit is fine for me. My biggest issue might be the front lip. On the 4, the case extended all the way over the front glass leaving a thin protective lip all around it. With the 5, speck has gone a different route. Now the lip goes over the metal band only. It's still tall enough that you can lay your phone screen down and not have it get scratched, but the lip only sits on the metal band, keeping the profile thinner. But I'm not entirely convinced that if I dropped it screen side down that the lip won't slide back from the impact and allow the screen to hit surface. We'll see. I may keep the case, I may get the incipio frequency, I may not.

I'd love to get some feedback from people that have tried the pixel HD and then the frequency. It's the next one I am looking at but I don't want to get another case so soon.

Curious to know if the material on the frequency is similar to that of the pixelskin, the thickness, and if/how much the case covers the front edge of the screen.

Go for Belkin Sheer grip. That's what I have on mine. It fits perfect. And I used to had speck pixel hd for 4. And my wife switched to belkin sheer grip for her old 4. And it looked better. So I gave it a try for 5 and I really like it. Although I do have 2 otterbox commuters on way for better protection. But I'm not too sure because Belkin ones are like 10mm thick while commuter is 14mm thick. Wait and see.

Regards.

Would you say the Sheer Grip is thinner than the PixelSkin HD? Also, on the Belkin, I don't like how there is some aluminum shown in the camera hole. What's your opinion on that?

If anyone doesn't like their pixelskin, I'd love to try it out for myself. I have a Seidio active case (black and white) with a metal kickstand that I'm not using right now and would be willing to trade. Let me know.

Just giving my 2 cents. I have been using mine for about 5 days now. I had one for my 4. At first, I wasn't really digging it. It's clearly made out of a different (firmer?) material and is a bit sharper around the edges. Also, as noted the cover around the lip is far less than that of the 4/4S version.

Well, after days of use it's either become a bit easier to use or I just got used to it. It's like the old to me now. The tiny bit of loose feel I felt on the first day is gone. It's snug, even after taking it off a few times. Weird. Also, it doesn't feel as sharp.

I was thinking of returning mine after the first day, but now I am keeping it.

yes, it is thinner if i can believe the specs online for the HD. the shear comes in under 10mm (9.7mm based on my engineering scale and converting units).

it's not as thin as the phone itself or a bumper i saw the best buy guy had on his, but it's very thin overall and a major selling point to me.

(i have already returned and traded in two other cases including the Speck Candy Shell which was about 11mm thick -- i liked this case and its fabulous buttons, but after a few days, it looked horrible with all of the scratches)

i agree, one downside of the sheer grip is the slight showing of the slate aluminum.

not the perfect case by any means, but the best i could do locally and i feel i can now sit tight for a few months to see what else turns up. but overall, i'm happy with it.

Interesting. I'm using a CandyShell at the moment. So I'm trying to decide on the grip candy sheer or the PixelSkin hd for my permanent case. I wonder if 11 mm vs 9.7 mm makes a big deal in how thin it feels.

Big difference? No. Noticeable? To me, yes. If you can I'd go to a store to compare. I could have happily lived with the candyshell if it were a matte finish. But now having had the two, for my needs, the slightly less protection (I'm assuming) is worth it in the gain of thinness in profile. YMMV.

Ours has black edge around camera. It's plastic. Looks fine. I haven't held a pixelskin hd for 5 yet so I can't say. But Belkin is definitely very thin. My wife has dropped hers lot already and iPhone still looks fine. :)

For those who complain about the HD's 'looseness,' I returned mine today in the mail, and also sent off an email addressing the issue and asking if Speck had any plans of correcting the issue.

About an hour ago I got a response from their support line notifying me that they were aware of the issues, that it has been addressed, and that (supposedly) the new cases are already available.

I figure I'll give it another go and see if this is the case. (Pun not intended.)

Please do let us know if the new case has actually fixed the problem.

Thanks.

It's a little loose on my iPhone 5. I think I prefer my BestBuy RocketFish Softshell case. What I do like is the Camera/Flash hole is a lot smaller than the RocketFish Camera/Flash hole.

Yeah, deciding to stick with my RocketFish Case.

Here are some comparison pics between the Speck Pixel skin Hd & the Incipio Frequency. The Frequency fits more snug and is much thinner, the front lip overlaps the iPhone 5 just like the previous Pixel skin hd for the iPhone 4s and it's $10 less @ walmart. Only downside on the Incipio frequency is the home button takes a little more pressure to activate unlike the Pixel skin hd.

The pros of the Pixel skin HD are the port covers and buttons. The Speaker ports are covered up and offer more protection, the home button can be activated with normal pressure. The fitment of the Pixel skin HD is not as snug as the frequency, however some of you have mentioned that speck is aware and a revised case is on the way. Protection wise I think they both offer the same shock absorbent, I believe both are made from TPU material. I'm kinda leaning towards the Incipio frequency because of the fitness, front lip protection and best of all $10.00 cheaper.
