I love the Speck PixelSkin HD Wrap, I'm sure I could get a small magnet into the cover if its not coming with them fitted, I have a few flexible magnets laying around that are really thin, it looks superb.

FYI, I tweeted Speck Products and they responded that the case is expected to be availalbe by early to mid April. :( I was hoping late March.

I'm trying to get some info on how microsuction works too.

Let us know if you find anything out about the microsuction. I'm debating between this case and Marware case(s).

Microsuction could be great or it could really micro-suck, depending on what it is and what does.

If speck just put magnets in the cover I would be sold either way.

Speck makes great products, i just wish they'd make them slimmer lol, i have speck cases on all my products but i always hated how they added a lil more bulk then the incipio feathers, even tho i have a smart cover and skinomi shield on the back, i mite get this case since it combines the smart cover with the protection of a full case =)

On March 31, on Twitter, Speck said the black PixelSkin HD Wrap will be in Target stores on the weekend of April 16th, then online shortly afterwards.

I emailed Speck regarding the magnet feature.

"Not currently.

The Smart Cover from Apples require magnets to sleep/wake up. *This is something that there may be some patent protection on, so we have to be careful before using this type of system on our products."

There must be some sort of licensing agreement other manufacturers are paying into to use the smart cover feature.

A license to use a magnet?

I find it very hard to believe Apple could or would sue a manufacturer for putting a couple of magnets in a case, any more than they could or would sue over an app that uses their patented multi touch, or an auxialliary lens that covers their existing camera lens.

Sounds more to me like Speck is just trying to unload their first batch of V1 magnet-free cases, which were designed and RTM'd before they had a chance to implement magnets.

Just wondering if any other manufacturers that are using magnets will be paying Apple for the privilege, wouldn't think so

Features of Pixel skin are protective and slim-fitting with a stylish glossy-matte finish, front cover stays closed with micro-suction Cover folds into viewing and typing stand.

Wow, that's really enlightening information, thanks Mr Spammy.

Tell us more about the loans you are offering in your signature too. Bet they are totally legit and everything.

Other companies are using the magnets. Apple put them on there for manufacturers to use - part of Apples success is due to the third party accessory market. I agree that some companies are saying this to try and get rid of old products. Give it a month and I bet Speck will have plenty of magnet products ;)

I have some very thin and flexible magnets (same thickness as a credit card) that I'm going to put inside the case to enable the smart in the cover :)

Just gave them a try and they work great, can't wait to get this case

Wow seems it will be ages before this hits the UK. Have just ordered some £5 'thing' from ebay to tie me over till this is released here.

Man I hope it comes soon cause I'm sick of waiting for it. Thank goodness my ipad hasn't come in yet.

Tell me about it! I picked up my iPad 2 from my local Apple store on April 2nd, and I hate having to wait so long. Fortunately, Speck reconfirmed to me through twitter on Friday, that the PixelSkin hd wrap will be for sale in target stores on April 16/17.....so just 6-7 more days.

8 days? You hate having to wait "so long"???

FWP. Get over it.

Yeah, I waited from April 2nd, when I got my iPad 2 to April 16/17, and that is longer than the 8 days that you just mentioned. That more like 2 weeks, which is a lot longer than I usually have to wait to get a case for any device. So, that is pretty long to me, maybe not to you. And by the way, notice that I quoted the other poster, so I wasn't talking to you in the first place.

iLounge just put up a first look of this case. Pictures look good, athough it does seem that the black will show dirt and finger marks quite easily on the grid. Bummer.

The one thing that I can pretty much guarantee is that this thing will not show any fingerprints or dirt. It's made the same as the Pixelskin for the iphone and that case is awesome. I slide my case around on my desk and home and it honestly doesn't have a scratch or any show of wear. It's really good material so if that's your only worry you'll be happy.

EDIT - Why couldn't they put up a pic of a side view of the closed case. I wanted to see how thick it is.
I'm just looking to see how heavy and thick this case is. That's my main concern.

I wonder if it's possible to remove that "micro suction" strip (I am assuming that's what that is for) and put a magnetic strip in there.

I'm really intrigued by this case now. For some reason the entire time I though that the suction was going to occur on the entire screen....which makes literally no sense.

Man why couldn't they post better pictures. I wonder how heavy it is in the case. Whoever gets this first needs to post the reviews.

a bit pricey for a plastic case IMO, looks like the rubber mats in my car  thickness is my biggest concern like some of you. no sleep/wake function, but no big deal on that. if the thickness is like the yoobao case i had, then returned, then i'm sold on this one. hopefully target gets them in stock this weekend.
