I bought a lime green Speck case before I left to Australia for a summer program. My thoughts on it are that it did protect my MBP fairly well, I have no scratches on it. However, removing it was DAMNED IMPOSSIBLE and I finally had to take my laptop to the Apple store in order to have them get the top (screen) portion off. The woman took my computer into the back, who knows what they did with it, and she came back all flustered saying it was a bugger to get off and I probably shouldn't put it back on. WTF? For a $50 case? That soured me on it.

I have since gone naked with my MBP and just been anally careful, as I have a bestskinsever waiting for me at home in Boston. I admit, I like the aesthetics of the MBP better naked, and the Speck case did add some bulk/weight.

If I had to do it over, I'd give the Incase one a try because getting the Speck off was prohibitively hard. And there was dust trapped in it that needed to be cleaned. Just my $.02.

Weird... I wonder if they have size issues. I have no trouble getting mine on and off.

I have both Speck SeeThru and a Incase Hardshell for my new MBP.

I've had a Red SeeThru on my first generation MBP since they were released, cleaning regularly has always been necessary. I have to say that having it on saved me $600 in repairs... since there was no clear point of impact, the repairs to casing and the display in-operation were taken care of under AppleCare.

Since then I've bought a Clear SeeThru case for my new 2.5 Penryn MBP, also probably prevented a great deal of damage when I dropped my Kensington backpack from waist height to the concrete (crappy backpack). The backpack landed and transfered most of the impact to the corner of the machine with the DVI port. The machine was relatively unharmed besides some minor denting/bending around the port... everything still works fine and visibly only slightly affected.

I recently just bought a Hardshell case from Incase because I thought they looked really great on the MB, and it seemed like it may even be more protective. While that may or may not be (don't feel like test dropping my MBP) it severely prevents the screen from opening past maybe 95 - 100° from closed. If you rely on your laptop to be more open than not, I strongly suggest against the Hardshell case.

meh.... i just ordered the red one. i guess i'll only really feel for it when i have it for real. kinda undecided on the design. i'll probably buy other manufacturers later too. i reeeeeaaally like blue transparent colour, but wern't available to me at the time.
