Spectati for Mac - native Plex, Jellyfin and live TV player

Hi everyone,

I'm the developer of Spectati, a new native media player for macOS (also available on Apple TV, iPhone and iPad).

It exists to close the gap between personal media libraries and live television: instead of maintaining separate apps for Plex, Jellyfin and IPTV, Spectati presents them through one library, one player and one synchronized experience.

The Mac version is written in Swift and SwiftUI. It is not Electron, not a web wrapper, and not an enlarged mobile interface. It has proper window behavior, menus, and keyboard navigation.

Current functionality:

• Plex and Jellyfin libraries
• M3U, JSON playlist and Xtream-compatible live TV sources with a full XMLTV guide
• Unified movie and TV library, with search across movies, series, episodes and channels
• Continue Watching, watchlists, favorites and history
• Offline downloads (where the source supports it)
• Multiple audio and subtitle tracks; audio delay, subtitle delay and playback-speed controls
• Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10 and Atmos playback
• AirPlay
• Parental controls and PIN protection
• iCloud sync with the Apple TV, iPhone and iPad versions

Live playback uses a custom FFmpeg-based engine. That buys control over live streams that are inconsistent, malformed or unstable.

Pricing is $3.99 per month or $34.99 per year with a 7-day free trial, covering all supported Apple platforms with one subscription.

Feedback from longtime Mac users would be especially useful: keyboard navigation, and whether the balance between a media-first interface and conventional Mac behavior feels right. I'll be following the thread.

I've added SMB network share support to Spectati. Point it at a NAS or a shared folder and it builds the library from your files, no media server needed. It's in beta for now, as is the new Emby support.

WebDAV and SFTP are coming next, and are in closed beta. DM me for a TestFlight invite if you want to help test them.

In more general news, Spectati now has a free tier. Everything plays. You're limited to two sources at a time, at SDR and stereo. A subscription lifts that limit. It also adds HDR and surround sound, offline downloads, your IPTV provider's catch-up and on-demand catalogue, SIMKL scrobbling, and iCloud sync so your sources, favourites, ratings and channel setup follow you between devices.

I've also lowered the pricing. It's now $2.99 per month or $22.99 a year. A lifetime purchase is available at $99.99 for now, as a thanks to early supporters. It'll rise to $129.99 later on.

Pricing shows annual for 3,39€ on the App Store description but when I go for Premium in the app, it shows 24.99€.

That's pretty weird- my best guess is it must be a bug within the App Store. I've checked App Store Connect, and not one has annual at 3,39 €, but it does show as 3,39 € for me as well, on the App Store. I'll raise it with Apple support, thanks!

Depending on the VAT of your country, 24,99 € ($22.99) is the correct pricing.
