Glad I bought the Samsung Galaxy S2.The 4.3" screen is awsome.I'v owned a Iphone since they first came out and to me the Iphone 4s is a let down :(

That was....kind of underwhelming. I guess I was expecting it to be a good deal faster. It is, you can tell, but nothing incredible. Usually only by a second or two. The Safari test was pretty awesome though, the 4S definitely pulled way ahead on that. Regardless, the 4S is an awesome phone.

Definitely. Can't wait to see what they do with the hardware then.

The reason you don't see a massive difference, is that all apps right now are written for a single core iPhone 4 processor, once devs start making use of dual core, that's when you'll see a massive difference.

Awesome video, now I KNOW I should just wait for the iPhone 5 instead of just being pretty sure.

Do a 3GS vs iPhone 4S... then you'll see some differences :)

I'm still on my 3GS ;) Looking forward to the 4S next month. Not in a hurry to purchase. I'll let the lines die down.

I don't see why it's such a let down to others. The iPhone 4 style blows away any phone on the market today, period. With the iPhone 4s your getting that same sexy look but more powerful.

What happen to smaller is better? Apple can never win. You want things small and less bulky, they delivery and now hated because it's not as big as the others... I personally think anything larger then the current screen is hurting my pockets ;)

I haven't read this whole thread, but has anybody yet pointed out that a brand new iPhone 4 would run just about as fast as that 4s? I remember when my 4 was new, and the settings menu would open instantly. Now that isn't so. A number of factors can contribute to this, such as age of the device, but more technically, running an OS that wasn't the one that was designed at the time of that phone's release (i.e. a newer one that takes more power to run), etc.

I hate to rain on the parade, but in opening apps, the iPhone 4s is not any faster than what a brand new iPhone 4 would be.

Glad I didn't buy one. LTE and bigger screen will be a solid win for me. See ya next year!

Agree

Def faster, but so far not "enough" to justify the cash over my perfectly fine ip4

Not speaking for anyone else, just me...

I find it funny that apps load nearly twice as fast on the 4S and people here are saying "meh". Yes, there is room for improvement. But not much. If the next model is twice as fast as the 4S at loading apps, it's going to be damn near as fast as you can get. I wish apps on my Core i5 Windows 7 desktop loaded that fast.

Whats more funny is the people who think it's "so much faster"

Get a SSD and run apps that are a few MB instead of a few GB and your PC will load every quite fast.

How many people really are going to pay the penalty to dump their 2-year contract a year early anyway? It happens, but it can’t be the norm. By definition, the 4S market excludes most 4 owners because of the contract.

Mom, stepdad, three brothers, two girlfriends, one wife, 4 friends and myself all went from the iPhone4 to the 4S today.

Seems if you are not gaming and you are on a budget you probably are better off just waiting. But if you game a lot, tend to want things to load quicker (I hate waiting for things to load) and have the money to spare, it might be worth it. Or if you need more storage space...

or if you want to record video in 1080p...
or if you want a better low light performance...
or if you want better color reproduction...
or if you want more detail in your images...
or if you want Siri...
or if you want better battery life...
or if you want an iPhone on Sprint...
or if you want faster download speeds...
or if you are using an iPhone 3GS...
or if you are using an iPhone 3G...
or if you are using a original iPhone...
or if you do not have an iPhone at all...

I don't know where you got the idea it loads apps twice as fast. It loads them marginally faster. I think you need to watch the video again, if you even watched it at all.

I think it was pretty clear that we're talking about going from a 4 to a 4S since that's what this video is about, so your last 4 reasons are nonsensical. Your first three reasons can be summed up by saying "better camera" so while your list looks impressive if you don't know any better, what you're really saying is.

Or if you want SIRI
Or if you want a better camera
Or if you want Sprint
Or if you want faster downloads

The battery has slightly better talk time but 100 hours less in standby time so that's a wash. Doesn't look all that much better anymore when making an accurate comparison now does it?

I dont' know how significant the speed difference is between the 4 and the 4S ... but between the 3GS and the 4S? WHOA!

I feel like I'm just now entering a brightly lit room after staying inside a dim room for so long

How did you convince your wife and two girlfriends to wait in line together? Also, are you all on the family plan or is that just for your wife? Do your girlfriends get jealous?

You know it's not as if the a5 is new it's been in the iPad 2 for months so the devs have worked with it ie, infinity blade was updated for ipad 2.

They both have their relevancy.

When you're talking a desktop monitor or tv where you have plenty of space, yeah, bigger is better (long as you got the space for it).

But when we are talking portable, yes, smaller is better. But sometimes you do have to consider you have a screen there. So you gotta have a good balance between portable and usable screen. I personally think Apple's 3.5" screen is a great balance. And this is from some one who scoffed at it when she had a PDA with a bigger screen and wondered why I would want to downgrade screen sizes. After eventually for reasons that would bore you I did get an iPhone and had to admit I was wrong, the smaller screen was not even noticeably less usable but the smaller size was noticeably nicer.

Ok, forgot about the better low light camera, that is nice (Though at least the 4 is ok in low light. Granted after coming from a 3G I'm just glad it can do pics in low light cause the 3G's camera was horrid unless you had plenty of light).

or if you want Siri...

Siri's nice. But one could do without it. Not that I'd complain about getting it ;).

or if you want better battery life...

Far as I know the battery life isn't that much better at all. And in some cases worse (but honestly, I don't really count only having 200 hours of idle time something I'd worry about. It's a smartphone and I make sure to charge it every night. Now a dumbphone where I barely use cause I don't actually use the phone much I'd worry about that cause I was notoriously bad about forgetting to charge my phone before I got a smartphone).

or if you want an iPhone on Sprint...

True, but for me totally not a consideration (Sprint is the one carrier I actively avoid).

or if you are using an iPhone 3GS...
or if you are using an iPhone 3G...
or if you are using a original iPhone...
or if you do not have an iPhone at all...

Uh, don't know why you listed this. I'm pretty sure my post was talking about upgrading from a 4...

And don't get me wrong, I like the 4S. I think it's a fine upgrade (and I think it's more aimed at 3GS, 3G, original, and non iphone owners than iphone 4 owners. Apple aims their new iphones at the people who have the 2 year old iphones and non iphone owners, not those who just got the new one last year).

In fact I kinda want one and I have a 4.

But practically speaking, there are many reasons why one would keep their 4 especially if they are trying to budget. Even with games I'm pretty sure the 4 will stay mostly relevant until the 5 comes out. Siri is nice but until it supports 3rd parties (if it ever will), I'd say it's pretty limited cause you're forced to use Apple's apps (Which really aren't that great honestly, you can find much better in 3rd party apps).

In the end, it's foolish to say this upgrade will be great for everyone having a 4s (on the other hand if you have a 3g, I'm amazed you didn't upgrade to the 4).
