Hello MBA guys and girls. I'm considering upgrading my current MBA 2015 EMC2925, by buying SSD with higher capacity. My current SSD is SAMSUNG 128 GB and I still didn't decide wheter to buy sintech adapter + regular M.2 SSD or to buy a replacement SSD with higher capacity.

Right now, I have two options:
1. to buy sintech adapter from sintech ebay store here and use it with Kingston A2000 250 GB .2 NvMe SSD drive
2. or just to buy a replacement derive such as htis one here.

If there people here with M.2 + adapter soutions, I'd like to ask you to test your SSD speed to compare with what I have currently.
For test I used Blackmagic Disk Speed Test downloaded from AppStore.
My result is in average 575 MB/s Write and 1200 MB/s Read speed.
I kindly ask you to test your SSDs in order to make a better educated decision.

Thank you very much in advance.

My setup in sig.. Adata 2tb and small Sintech work well.. Draws a bit more power on idle but not a big deal for me.. 5 year warranty on drive..

Your Air uses a PCIe 2.0 x4 data bus and it is the bus that will limit the read write speeds. Getting an extremely fast SSD like the 970 Eco Plus would be limited by the bus.

The drive in the eBay link looks just like an m.2 NVMe drive with the small Sintech attached at the end.

Look here for excellent information: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/upgrading-2013-2014-macbook-pro-ssd-to-m-2-nvme.2034976/
Hello Audit13,
ihave found on this link that MBA early 2015 most likely has PCIe 3.0 x4 data bus.

From your and xboxbml‘s reply, I conclude it is better to go with adapter option.

Xboxbml, can you please share your MBA specs and blackmagic speed test results. I'd like to see what to expect.
Thank you.
