It's a a shame that i have to tweak my phone to be fast. I have an iPhone so I don't have to worry About these stuff.

It'll still be fast without all this, these steps just add that little bit of snappy responsiveness. Everything needs to be maintained at some point

Nice and simple guide :D I'm jailbroken but all the steps you listed for jailbroken phones are too overwhelming for me x__x I'll stick with the first part :]

"You need to open up terminal and type ssh root@(your ip address) password "alpine" then copy and paste this script and hit enter

find / -type d \
-name "*.lproj" -not -iname "en*.lproj" \
-exec /bin/rm -vrf '{}' \;"

Where can I find this terminal on cyberduck O_O???

I installed Speed Intensifier via Cydia and it feels a lot faster even though I think it just decreases the transitions. Check it out.

how do you access the terminal window

I am in cyerduck and am connected to the phone but cannot find an option any where to access the terminal window?

Atleast remove language packs, Copy and paste cant be too overhwhelming

6.) If your device has multitasking, delete them by double clicking the home and press the - button. You should do this everyday, before you got to sleep. These are kept in Ram, which can slow your iDevice down.

Are you sure about this? I thought it keeps it in Flash memory, not RAM, which would have no effect on system performance.

I just did this and now my 1st gen iPad 3G is extremely slow and irresponsive. Like when at lockscreen it will take for ever to recognize me tapping my unlock code. Same when tapping an URL in safari. I blame this more on me making a mistake than on OP. But... any idea? What gives?

EDIT: after having to restore my iPad I did the procedure again and while this time it is working correctly there is NO major improvement in performance. Deleting unnecessary LaunchDaemons will suffice IMHO.

No, apps are suspended in Ram. You can see this by using a memory monitor and closing apps in the multitasking bar.

Launch daemons and language packs are the most important i think; the ipad is quite a bit faster than the iP4/iPT4, etc. This will help more so with slower devices, ie: 3GS, 3G, etc.

So, how do I excatly delete the files for windows? :S I don't have terminal since I'm not running a Mac.

Use winSCP it has a terminal built in. That said I guess you Know you don't need Terminal.app per se right? Any ssh client will work...even putty. Geee... Windows users... Lol. Jk.

when i have time i might try some of these tips, but for now does fake clockup have any detrimental effects to the iphone, does it have increased battery drain or any effects on the cpu on of the iphone

No. It just affects animation and tricks you into thinking everything is faster

If I wanted to have to do all these maintenance steps all the time to keep my phone running smoothly I would have bought an Android phone. My iPhone 4 rarely is laggy, and I may hard reset it once a month if that.

If you read a few posts up you Will see this benefits the most slower devices like iPhone 3G/3Gs and older iPods touch. Troll is troll

So I ran your script on IP4 and deleted all language packs expect English & Spanish.

Then I deleted the recommended Launch Daemons except the ones that you stated you had no clue what they are for. I left those alone.

Starting fresh after a reboot ..... SBSettings shows 320 MB available.
Using Safari 287 MB
Using Safari and Pandora streaming it actually went up to 298 MB
While Safari open, Pandora streaming and using Navigon, it's 256 MB

Usually Navigon alone brings it below 200MB.

I do notice it's a bit more snappy than before and playing around with it opening multiple apps and closing them while doing other tasks. It seems like the available memory is more steady rather than jumping all over the place like before.

Great, glad that it helped. :D

Try PuTTYs built in terminal, other then that you will have to wait for me to compile a script for windows. You could also manually delete them, but using the script is the safest way.
