In my area (also the OP area) Georgia State Patrol will have a system in place whereby one car is the designated radar vehicle and 1 or 2 additional cars will be intercept vehicles, parked or cruising further along the highway to act on the first car's recommendations. Easy peasy to crack down on speeders.

that seems to be a pretty common technique. There's a street I use here in Los Angeles where I see this happening. Drive past a cop who's sitting on a motorcycle pointing a radar gun at the cars going by........and sure enough a block later there's another cop ready to pull over the speeder.

In our little quiet community, they bring detectors that must have pinpoint accuracy. They clock you several hundred metres away, hidden behind tree or a bush. Then they just stand in the road waiting for you to arrive. Though it is usually a bad sign when you round that last curve and there's a cop in a safety vest standing in the middle of the road - luckily, it was for the car behind me.

I've only received one speeding ticket in my life, and ironically though I've owned a couple of classic sports cars and small block V-8 - it was in a 3 cylinder Fiesta. Washington State Troopers too... no sense of humour.

Hello everyone.
I wasn't sure where to post this but I figured I would start here since you guys have always given good advice in the past.
Yesterday, I got pulled over by Georgia State Patrol for speeding...doing 93 in a 55 zone.
I had a speeding ticket previously as well, which was a 68 in a 55 zone in 2011.
Looking back at it, I know this was incredibly stupid and I hope to learn from it. I know I have to pay a $200 super speeder fine to the state of Georgia but anybody have an idea of what the local fine would be in the city of Sandy Springs, GA? I'm supposed to appear in court on July 3, 2013 and I wonder if the judge will cut me any slack at all. I wonder if being an honor student/president's list in college, etc will help at all? What would you say/do?

Went to court...
$1200 fine, 50 hours of community service, and a defensive driving class. But thankfully no pints on the license or the suspension of it. Needless to say, I'm not gonna do that again, haven't been over the limit since. Those of who who offered positive advice, thank you.

IMHO, that's the best deal that you could've hoped for.

The good news is that there was no accident and nobody was injured.

The real crime would've been if you had learned nothing from this experience. Take this lesson with you as you go on to live your life. :)

Ouch, this is a pretty expensive life lesson.

Get a radar/laser scanner. Problem solved.

Better solution would be not drive almost twice the speed limit.:p
