LOL what a kludgy mess.

They got rid of the headphone jack for THIS? What was the point of this if all you get is basically a behind-the-neck bluetooth headphones?

It doesn't have to go 'behind the neck', but could go in front of the neck, or even around the neck...

I have a problem getting Bluetooth in-ear earphones to stay in my ears. The only ones that work, beside obviously over the ear headphones, is the corded Apple Earbuds. I actually LIKE this idea. I am on call a lot, and also like to ride my bicycles, and have used the corded Earbuds to hear my iPhone if someone calls (I never play music) and have no problem hearing around them, but hate the cords that tend to get tangled. This is a great idea to go with the AirPods idea. My thought was something that would possibly plug into the bottom, but this works, as long as they aren't going to slip out of the ends of the cable because of sweat.

Spigen saw a need, and answered it. Who else will step up with other elegant ideas...

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but does Apple not already offer an option if you want this:

http://www.apple.com/uk/shop/produc...a91c23e71f511c9c951890554c90c93b8b04b2d4ba0d9

I tried those. I tried the really expensive ones, I've tried the cheaper ones too. I guess I just have weird ears...

The option out of the box would have been nice.

But Apple doesn't like to stomp on emerging markets. So they stubbornly stick to their whole 'Zen' mantra. *Shrug* Spigen is happy I'm sure...

Yes, yes, I'm well aware of pince-nez glasses (I was wondering who was gonna be the first smarty-pants to point these out), but they're hardly the most practical solution, are they? How many people do you see wearing them on a day-to-day basis?
Not this part-Asian chick, that's for sure! I have a hard enough time keeping regular glasses from sliding down my nose.

Speaking of Asian chicks, I imagine it's only a matter of time before they design clip on charms for these earpod thingies. With the headphone jack being gone, those cell phone charms so popular in Asia that usually stick into the jack will need to be repurposed. Some of us can walk around looking like we have fishing lures jammed in our ears. ;):p

My husband keeps threatening to get me these Air pods for Christmas each time I grumble about the headphone jack being gone on the new iPhones. I don't know why he is trying to drag me kicking and screaming into wireless. I lost the expensive Beats Bluetooth earbuds he got me for my 49th birthday. It's probably wedged in a sofa cushion or buried at the bottom of a purse somewhere.

If he follows through on his threat I am going to wear them like Apple intended. No cords. Thoroughly hidden under my hair. I hope these are waterproof because the first time I wear them in the kitchen they will end up in the soup.

Completely unnecessary. Without the case, then maybe, but the case is a charging case and when the airpods are not being used, they should go in there. Now with this "add-on" you'll have to remove it to put it in the case and then put it back on after you take it out of the case. So stupid.

It's like when they added the seat in the movie 'Contact'

I thought this was a parody. Seriously, the whole beauty of AirPods is they look pretty much the same - it looks from a laymans perspective all apple did was cut the cables. It's like the perfect design. Beautiful. Adding a wire is just absurd. It's ruining the look, and the whole point of just putting the ear pod in your ear. Nothing else. It's space age IMO.

Too late ....

Some one hasn't been paying attention.

- bigger battery.
- larger camera mechanisms.
- additional space for larger SoC with increased performance.
- additional space for improved tactic engine.
- improvements to the home Button.

Plus this cord is from a 3rd party. People can use their AirPods as intended. There are also a specific Beats models for other use cases: BeatsX, Solo3, Powerbeats3 - all with cords built in.

Or people can optionally use the cord. At a desk you might be happy to go cordless. If walking/running you may want the security of the cord.

You forgot waterproofing. I personally think that was one of the main reasons that led them down the road of even considering removing the headphone jack.

This will suit some people nicely. Personally I'd rather have something that clips to the bottom like this but has a flexible wire to wrap around the ear. Put them on when I am working out, take them off for casual listening, etc. Still more comfortable than having a wire go all the way to the phone.

I think people forget one of the best benefits of wireless headsets is that you don't have to have the phone on your person at all times, like when you're just at home walking around.

Is not the greater possible problem that they fall out of the ear as one exercises or runs, rather than misplacing them and using an app to find them?

And you know this based on what facts??? There's even a video of a journalist that tried them out after the keynote that clearly shows her jumping up and down and shaking her head trying to get the airpods to fall out and they don't even budge.

very few people can workout with the existing apple earbuds without them falling out. the airPods are the same design, they're not going to stay in when you sweat.

Thank you for sampling the world and coming to this conclusion. May we see your statistical data? Oh, you don't have any. There's only you, and you've never even tried the Airpods? Well...

You do realize you've countered your own argument, don't you?

You took one anecdotal account of a journalist briefly jumping up and down and shaking her head and formed a narrative around it.

Thank you for sampling the world and coming to this conclusion. May we see your statistical data? Oh, you don't have any. There's only you? Well...
Where's your statistical data? Oh, you don't have any. To be fair, you do have a jumping journalist.

Only time, and actual use of the AirPods will tell if they will stay in place while people go about their business... whether that business is running, working out, or dancing like nobody's watching.

From my experience, I still see tons of people in the gym with apple's standard earbuds without issue. I guess it depends on how you swear. Now I agree they are not the best option (I use jaybird x2 in the gym).

Has there been a comparison in audio quality between the current wired and wireless earpod/buds vs the new Lightening earspods? I'm using a $40 collared BT earbud from monoprice and I would say they have better audio quality than the analog Apple earpods and ~9 hr of battery life.
