Is not the greater possible problem that they fall out of the ear as one exercises or runs, rather than misplacing them and using an app to find them?

And you know this based on what facts??? There's even a video of a journalist that tried them out after the keynote that clearly shows her jumping up and down and shaking her head trying to get the airpods to fall out and they don't even budge.

A question mark at then end of a sentence might have lead to you understand: it's a question.
Rather than your surmised knowledge "based on facts".
¿Too much to ask? (that's another question)

Thank you for sampling the world and coming to this conclusion. May we see your statistical data?

That's amusing; since your "statistical data" appears to be: "a video of a journalist that tried them out".
It would seem obvious that - like many things in life - earpods are a very good fit for some people, not for others.
Your "video of a journalist" is hardly representative of the millions of people who own and use iphones.

When did people get so irresponsible? "Oh I'm totally gonna lose these things!"

How about you just, oh idk... Keep an eye on them and carefully put them away when you're done?

I wonder about that too, seems a vast number of people are resigned to losing their stuff. their adapters, earpods, etc.

From my experience, I still see tons of people in the gym with apple's standard earbuds without issue. I guess it depends on how you swear.

Swearing in they gym? :)
nice typo - made me smile, thanks.

Has there been a comparison in audio quality between the current wired and wireless earpod/buds vs the new Lightening earspods? I'm using a $40 collared BT earbud from monoprice and I would say they have better audio quality than the analog Apple earpods and ~9 hr of battery life.

I read a german review today: claimed the new lightning "seemed slightly clearer"... pretty vague and possibly placebo effect.

"Im Paket liegt nun ein Paar Kopfhörer, das anstelle des bisher üblichen 3,5-Millimeter-Klinkensteckers einen Lightning-Stecker hat. Im direkten Vergleich scheinen die neuen Kopfhörer etwas klarer, etwas druckvoller zu klingen. Sonderlich groß ist der Unterschied allerdings nicht."

People who think they will fall out, do the wired ones fall out? If not, is it the wire that's holding them?

ok, so you take the Air Pods out of the connecting cable to charge them, then loose the cable.

Really stupid product, the whole point is to do away with a connecting wire.

Yeah, if they fell into a puddle or what-not, the cord serves its function, I suppose.

Maps is still not functioning. Why not invest a billion and simply get Maps on par with Google Maps. The app is like bed bugs that doesn't bother Tim Cook to rectify the situation.

Siri is the way to go. Perhaps with voice and eye movement bring Siri to replace the mouse and keyboard as the goal, eventually.

Robotics …, I don't want to say more on this; what realms Apple should or could give thought to venture into. Seems Apple is riding a wave now days. Like Rock I thought would always be there to create great songs forever, Apple can't remain vogue in the same way, too. Glad I was a part of it all, anywho's.

You forgot waterproofing. I personally think that was one of the main reasons that led them down the road of even considering removing the headphone jack.

It was intentional. Others have managed iPx8 with a headphone jack. So didn't think it was worth mentioning as a reason for removing it.

Apple did mention it as one of the reasons for doing it: https://www.buzzfeed.com/johnpaczkowski/inside-iphone-7-why-apple-killed-the-headphone-jack

How do you know they are not investing a billion (or more) already?

They have made significant maps related purchases:
  • Placebase
  • Poly9
  • C3 Technologies
  • WiFiSlam
  • Locationary
  • HopStop.com
  • Embark
  • BroadMap
  • Spotsetter
  • Coherent Navigation
  • Mapsense
I imagine work continues as consensus online appears to be an improving product. I've been using it in lieu of Google Maps since launch. Turn by turn in the UK has been fine. The issues have been with POI. And they've been steadily improving over time.

What wave? you sound like the people you moaned when the iMac launched. When the iPod launched. When the iPhone launched. When the iPad launched. When the Apple Watch launched. All have been successful. All have had innovations. All have had (continue to have) high levels of customer satisfaction.

There have been plenty of none product line innovations in the last few years too. You just have to pay attention (off the top of my head):

- TocuhID (and Apple Pay security)
- 3D Touch (fastest way for me to triage my work emails)
- Stepped battery in the Retina MacBook
- Custom designed class leading SoCs
- Custom designed class leading NAND controllers in the iPhone 6s
- True Tone flash
- True Tone displays
- Highly regarded Pencil accessory
- Continue to have some of the best flagship cameras on the market
- ResearchKit (lets hope this leads to some good)
- New programming language Swift
- Continuity & Handoff (a lot of features buried within these top level names)
- Metal
- CarPlay

If Apple is riding a wave, who isn't?

Finally, much like the iPhone and Apple Watch, nobody external really knows what Apple is working on. It could be a car, it could be a robotic vacuum. We just don't know.

Yes, but not very well apparently, and I would bet that the main point of egress and failure is the headphone jack...

Yes, yes, I'm well aware of pince-nez glasses (I was wondering who was gonna be the first smarty-pants to point these out), but they're hardly the most practical solution, are they? How many people do you see wearing them on a day-to-day basis?
I have worn string on my regular glasses to hang from neck. People on here can make a big deal about anything.

LOOK...the sky is blue. Yeah but what shade of blue? It's too blue, no not blue enough. I want and orange sky, i'm going to Mars. The sky is only blue during the day, at night its black with speckles. What's with that?

Had to happen

Has anyone used this product? I move around a lot during the way so one of my Air Pods will sometimes fall out once in awhile. I think this will keep it close to me instead of it hitting the ground. On the other hand, I wonder if having a cord around the pods will cause them to easily be pulled out of my ears?

I have an off brand of this. It’s a pain to get on and off. I would wear it ejile skiing, but that’s about it.
