Are you playing a pun or? "Dumb" is kind of the point. Yes it'll be obvious but as you play dumb they will say "well it looks like coffee was spilled in it" then you go "oh really who would do such a thing"

Hey whatever man spend another 2500 bucks and buy a new one. I don't care.

If you honestly think if you tell the truth "oh i spilled coffee on it" and you think they'll give you a new one you need to give me whatever it is you're smokin' because that has to be some really good stuff.

Plain dumb - It will be obvious once the machine is opened

All that will accomplish is making him look like an idiot. Even if he acts stupid as if he didn't know what happened, there would still be liquid damage that isn't covered. They sill won't replace it and at best he will just look like a complete idiot who didn't know something spilled on his computer, at worst he would look suspiciously as someone who tried to play "dumb" and trick the "geniuses" into fixing his computer that he stupidly broke.

Then go in there and say you spilled coffee on it and buy a new one. It's not my money and it's not my problem.

Search this very forum; many have had similar experiences only to find when being upfront and honest about liquid spills to Apple that the store manager has made a "one time exception" and wavered the repair cost or significantly reduced it. Going into the store and obviously trying to BS them is likely to only get you full ticket price for the repair at very best.

If you really want to engineer the situation get a girlfriend, a family member, or someone retired to take the Mac into Apple and up the sympathy a notch. Just note once Apple look at the machine it will be documented in their system so you only have the one shot.

I had a similar thread a few weeks ago. I had spilt a glass of water over my MacBook pro and then only realised in the morning so my MacBook was sitting in water for about 8 hours.
I dried it off for a few hours and then switched it on to find that everything was working apart from the trackpad, which was very slow and unresponsive. I left it for another week so that anything still inside could dry, and then took it to my local Apple store. I told them that the trackpad wasn't working, and they didn't even ask about any water damage (so technically I wasn't lying lol). Next day I came back and they replaced the trackpad for free as it was under warranty. No questions asked :D

So to answer a few questions. Gateway and HP did accidental care for free. I brought in my MBP. And it would've cost about $800 cause they did show me. It hit the power area and screen. Thank god the HDD is fine. Free HDD and RAM! They did how ever gave me a 25% discount so I'm buying a new one before work.

Nah man, you saw the spillage. They took pics of the area and shown me in person too. It really corroded the power area especially.

Did you buy this computer with a credit card? Have you looked to see if the offer any sort of accidental damage coverage? Many credit cards have something, some for 90 days, some warranty extension, etc. Might be worth giving your CC company a call...

Then be honest and tell them you spilled coffee on your computer.

I don't know what you want out of me.
Thanks.
