It's Mac OS X native, so theoretically should work on a Linux distro. Not saying it will.

Wine is only for windows .exe

And the likely hood of it running natively on linux is unlikely without recompiling it your self.

    Spirit on linux

Greetings - I use Slackware Linux on my notebook (PeeCee) don't throw rocks....nevertheless, I recently compiled Spirit from Git sources and successfully ran the binary without failure on my iPhone 3gs 3.1.3. I am now able to ssh into my new phone and have my way with her.

I haven't upgraded to ios4 as of yet, however, I can't wait to do so. If anyone with a Spirit jailbroken phone has upgraded to ios4, please let me know if all is well.

I am a newbie to Apple products, so please be gentle. I cut my teeth on a dual floppy Apple ][e, I think it was, in 1988. Correct me if I'm wrong, I think that it took two floppies to load the OS before I could load the typing tutor. Anyway, greetings again, sorry to run off topic. Let me know if I can help with Spirit.
