Wouldnt Zumocast work just as effectively esp when it comes to streaming? I know I can stream form anywhere with Zumocast. I will check this app out but not sure what this has over Zumocast when it comes to streaming.

Zumocast lets you play Internet Flash content on your iPad?

No but I dont care about flash anyway. As long as I can stream over 3G, WIFI anywhere in the world, then I am happy and Zumocast does that. Not that there is anything wrong with this app, but whats the point of doing this from your own home when a lot of people already desktops. I have a desktop and a laptop if I want to visit Flash websites which I cant get to on the iPad, and now that many websites are starting to take the HTML5 route, Flash is going to become less and less useful. But if Flash is your big fancy then certainly its great to use this program.

I'll echo the positive reviews in this thread:

There are only 2 apps on my iPad that I find are indispensable: AirVideo and Dropbox. Now, after only 2 days of using Splashtop Remote, It has found a place in my dock and has joined the ranks of AV and Dropbox.

This really is an incredible app. If you are on the fence at all, you should get the free version to try. Though odds are for just 2 dollars you'll end up buying the full version.

I'm just excited for the update that let's you access your desktop from anywhere.

Me too. My desktop is connected to a university's network... so right now it simply won't work. I wonder if it will with the update.

Also though... Does this happen to anyone else?

Splashtop change your PC resolution - which is fine. However, when going back to normal, a lot of applications (iTunes, Firefox, etc) open up in small windows, as if it didn't truly reset back to normal after leaving the spashtop app.

yes that will be the computer, not the app, its because the window is resized, to not go off the edges, but when you revert back, the computer obviously doesn't automatically maximise windows, if you were to manually reduce your resolution, and then increase it again the same thing would happen.

For emulation and gaming on splashtop desktop Remote-play is this worth the $150?

I also want to add that using certain steAm games like and yet it moves they play entirely via the keyboard so with the splashtop remote plsy could it work or has anyone tried and yet it moves?

ok guys I did an experiment. It actually works but there is a tiny speed lag but no big deal. The big deal is the horrible control implementation of the keyboard. Splashtop doesnt allow you to hold a key or letter but you have to press it constantly and for some reason doesnt recognize when you press two keys at once like w and d so you cant diagonal jump. I think if your a fanatic of and yet it moves and want it on the go the $150 would be worth it as its way more portable than carrying a keyboard everywhere with you and also both the mac or bootcamp and the ipad use blue tooth so there are interference problems detecting such keyboards and the game wont run or the app via an external keyboard but only a simulator of the one controlled by the mac/pc. Again if the programmer of splashtop had gamers more in mind Im sure fixes could be made to make it more enjoyable rather than just a novelty.

Looks like a terrific app so based on the recommendations here downloaded it. My mistake, possibly, is I downloaded the iPhone version. I see though that version also works on the iPad yet there is also a dedicated iPad version? The iPad app won't work on the iPhone.
What is the difference between the two? As I accidently downloaded the iPhone version I added it to my iPad (and also my iPhone).

There is a dedicated iPad app. Can't say what the diff. are with the iPhone version since I've never used it.

Have had it for a while and it is one of my favorite apps. I think it works better on my PC ...have some weird resizing issues on my Mac mini, but I just deal with them.

I started a thread asking this question, but maybe this was a better place to ask.

To the people that have this app, do you use it on another network other than your own Wifi?

For instance the free one worked great at home on my network but when I got to work, I was unable to find my computer.

Does this work only on your local wifi or can it be accessed anywhere in the world where there is wifi?

Maybe I set it up wrong too.

Help!

Both the iPad and the computer have to be on the same wifi network.

People that are mentioning this update coming, is this the issue that they are referring to? i.e., eventually will I be able to have my iPad at work on their Wifi and control my Mac at home on my home networks wifi? that would be great!

It broke my iPad

I got this app and it worked great for a few minutes but then it simply stopped working. But the worst part of it is now none of the remote apps on my iPad are working either. I'm talking About apps like Air Video, Remote HD, Rowmote, and Mobile Mouse. None of these apps will connect to my Mac anymore when they worked perfectly before. Interestingly, the same apps still all work perfectly on my iPod Touch.

Clearly Splashetop Remote did something to the iPad because everything was working before I tried it for the first time.

Any suggestions?

Is there any fix to the resizing of the original computer screen? It annoys me hoe it re sizes my MBP screen and then re sizes all my windows. I then have to manually re size them to my liking everytime :(

Tap the arrow next to your computer -> Advanced, "Use remote computer's native setting". You might have some trouble reading small stuff, but you can zoom and move around the screen to do that sort of thing. Works great!

Can I play Call of Duty remotely on the iPad 2 ? I don't think it's possible but...
