Ya, I may not post often, but I'm with all the seasoned posters about keeping this spoiler-free :)

Are we there yet?

Blah blah blah blah blah.

I didn't read (most of) what you just wrote, but I'm pretty sure it was a spoiler. In that case, you are a jerk, go die. kthxbai (EDIT, it's not, I don't know why I thought it was. Sorry for the namecalling, lol... I'm very nervous about seeing something after almost ruining it for myself several times :p)

P.S. Not sure if anyone posted this yet, but if not, this video is awesome: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-2C2gb6ws8 (From WWDC '06, no spoilers here)

Where is the damn keynote!? I feel like it has never taken this long before. I already know everything that happened, but I still really was hoping to get a chance to watch it tonight.

I've been waiting for 7hrs now, from 18:00 GMT. Unless the video is posted in the next thirty seconds, I'm going to have to watch it tomorrow.

I've done spoiler free quite a few times now...and usually it would have been up a few hours ago at the latest...

Why not just use the energy saver control panel and set it to never go to sleep? And then if you do want it to sleep, just sleep it manually before you walk away?
It does reduce the number of clicks if you forget to manually sleep ... which I do all the time. Having a nice cup icon to remind me is nice. My menu bar is getting full with all these sweet menu bar apps and status notifications though.

From left to right - Caffeine, Dropbox, Little Snitch, Flux, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Eject button, Keyboard Panel, Volume. ( Time is PST :) )

It's hard to believe to takes 5-6 hours for Apple to edit their keynote using their software (assuming they use their software, idk why they wouldn't).

What if Apple isn't going to even post the video?
I bet Steve is sitting in his office and reading this thread, and an IT guy walks in,
"Sir, should I put the video up yet?"
"Hahaha. No. I'm enjoying this...."

Edit: Sorry, In regards to Caffeine I mean.

Caffeine is good for certain people. For example, I know people who have laptops so they set their settings pretty conservatively (IE: it goes to sleep soon), but when they give a presentation they don't want the screen to sleep.

Similarly I work at a church, and we have an iMac running ProPresenter (worship presentation software). We never want the screen to sleep while church is on, so I have a script that turns on Caffeine when ProPresenter starts up and turns off Caffeine when ProPresenter shuts down. That way the comp will sleep like normal as long as ProPresenter isn't running.

god damn it how much longer?
what time is it in EST?

1) Approximately 3-5 minutes after you give in and browse around on some other sites

2) If I remember correctly, MacRumors displays all times in EST time, which is currently 8:33 PM

to the veterans: how late in the day is the video usually posted?

Usually right around this time, actually. I'm going to guess it'll be up in the next 30, maybe 40 minutes at the latest.

Play some video games in the meantime. :)

"From the beginning we designed OS X to be sleek, elegant, and fast; and with every version from 10.0 to 10.6, it's only gotten better. But we've been thinking in the past year since we shipped Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, where can we go from here? What do we do now? It took some time, and took quite a bit of brainpower, from some of the brightest minds in the industry, but eventually we came to the conclusion that the only place to go, was into space. Don't get me wrong, Snow Leopard is pretty cool, but we wanted something even cooler. That's why today, June Seventh, we're officially announcing Mac OS 11.0, Space Cougar. It's unlike anything you've seen before, and it's awesome. We'll have a developer preview out by the end of fall, with a public beta coming in spring 2011."

Good job. I was scrolling down and saw a few keywords throughout the paragraph, and then the last line. I almost thought it was a quote from a liveblog or something, until I decided to read it since I figured it might be a joke.

this is taking too looong!

i'm locked in my room, can't turn on the television, haven't touched my blackberry, and cannot browse other websites other than this thread, and the link checker. :(

hopefully it would all be worth it. :)

2010 and Apple still can't do live streaming.

They've been doing Live streaming at E3 and other conferences for years.

This whole song and dance is getting really damn old, come on Apple, get your finger out.
