Seriously. I don't get why it should take sooo long. But in the end they rarely disappoint, and I'm always glad I waited.
You know. I've been thinking about it. I think I've been spoiler free since 2000. I would have been 13. I remember watching the MWSF '00 keynote live streaming. Steve introduced OS X. It was magical. After having your world rocked by Steve Jobs, spoiler free was just the natural instinct. After they stopped streaming it, they used to air the live satellite feed at certain Apple Stores. At the time, the nearest Apple store was 200 miles away, AND THEY WEREN'T SHOWING THE FEED! Had to drive to the Apple store 300 miles away to be spoiler free.
I made that trip with my mom a few times. Whenever they showed the feed there, there would be dozens and dozens of mac fans lined up around the corner of the Apple Store. Nearly in the hundred. I always used the employee entrance of the mall to get the first place in line super early while my mom went back to go sleep at the motel.
Nowadays the only way to be spoiler free (besides actually being at the keynote) is to cut yourself off from the media and preface your phone calls with stern warnings against steve spoilers...BUT IT'S WORTH IT I SAY! WORTH IT!!!!
Hey! If you need something to kill some time tomorrow, I recommend watching the MWSF '00 keynote I was talking about or at least the OS X part. It's freaky how closely the intro still describes the current OS X.
Start of the OS X intro:

I'd forgotten a few things he talks about. Like the fact that Save buttons and stuff dim and brighten. I'd totally stopped noticing!
Btw, in 2000 Steve said that OS X was their strategy throughout the rest of the decade. Well it's 2010, where's OS XI? There used to be a few rumors about it years ago, but it was probably untrue at the time. Pretty daunting task really. there's not much point in calling it OS XI unless it's radically different somehow. The word 'next-gen' comes to mind. hmmm.
