I'll be doing my first spoiler free this year too. I'm not too anxious about the keynote so the curiosity can wait.

Yay! I'm glad others have joined.

For you first timers, it's really the way all Keynotes should be: spoiler-free. It really takes the excitement out if you read about the event then watch it.

This thread should be the first place we all learn that the Keynote is up to watch - like it has in past!

Hang on tight, everyone!!

Just for the record, I want to buy an iPhone 4th gen the day it comes out, so I won't be going 100% spoiler free (I will need to know if I need to visit an Apple Store that day), but don't worry, I won't spoil anything for you guys!

Matthew

Here we go again people. I'm so excited that this will be the first keynote I will watch on my iPad :)

A tip for those of you who truly want to remain spoiler free. Plan something to do or take a nap and just check back late in the evening.

Inevitably as tomorrow wears on and the tension (and post count of this thread) rises. People will post spoilers. Jerks think its funny to pop into a SPOILER FREE thread and post what happened saying 'Oh I thought it was a joke thread' or people will state what they personally don't consider to be a spoiler. For example, around the iPad keynote there were posts saying "Meh, no big deal and I hate the name" Which obviously indicates that something was announced and the name is controversial - then you call them on posting something and a flame war ensues.

So, my tip is don't keep hitting refresh on the forum reading every single post with excitement or you will be disappointed. It's happened to me too often - Only voidness restores my faith in Human kind every keynote by helping us all out :) - just check back later in the day and skim the threads for the link :D

This will be my first Spoiler Free Keynote too. I've read this thread on the iPad announcement, so I learned some of the mistakes one can do. Not quite sure if I should visit this place here after the Keynote because this spoiler free thread was full of spoilers back then.

Also, I have to remember to change my home page for Safari... Otherwise the first page I will see is Apple.com...

Edit: I live in Europe so the Keynote will be live at 7pm in the evening. For the iPad Keynote I waited till 4am, but this time I hope I can sleep and wake up with a link in my mailbox.

FYI: Incase you guys are afraid of people ruining the thread, I will update the first post with the link to the Keynote once I receive word it's up. So you can just bookmark page 1 of this thread and just look at the first post.

But, hopefully we won't have any party-poopers ;)

I <3 Spoiler free Keynotes!

I love spoiler free keynote addresses! It is really hard to avoid all the coverage. I avoid my phone all day since friends send me txt msgs all day long. This one will be special since I do plan to get the iphone for the first time. I am still upset with Gizzmodo for leaking the prototype dope, even if it was common knowledge about the next phone's features. I followed the play by play with the ipad announcement since I had no interest in it whatsoever, and I have to say, it was very very detailed and funny (Steve adjusts his pant leg, announces there will be no flash support!) (Steve says ipad is magical, wipes sweat from brow). The only thing that upset me is the injection of political leanings by apple--featuring Ted Kennedy's book in the bookstore, or featuring the Obama family on inauguration day on the cover of the NYT. I could care less and it's a turn-off. It is 2010. Why is there no live feed? Seems a bit ridiculous.

Hello everyone!

I'm glad to be here, and I'm very excited about WWDC. I updated my "Keynote Checker" script to work for tomorrow's event. For those of you who are unfamiliar with it, it's a web page that automatically check's Apple's website for the keynote stream, and then posts the direct links once the stream is up.

Check it out, and if you have any suggestions please tell me: http://bit.ly/KeynoteChecker

See you all tomorrow :)

A reminder for the new guys; don't forget to turn of all RSS and twitter feeds. also do not watch TV or visit any other websites. Do not answer the phone, even your best friends could spoil you ;). Interest from the media will be massive. and there will be spoilers on all the news sites.

and as already said, be strong and remain spoiler free. it's worth it!

Well, this is unusual but I hope this thread picks up steam.

Usually, we would have 15-20 active posters on a thread like this but it seems like people may just rely on the MacRumors official spoiler-free page or people don't care (seeing as how the iPhone has leaked months ago).

If we don't get some brave souls to check if the Keynote is up, then this thread will be pointless!!

For this keynote my level of caring is kind of low. In the sense that I'm psyched for what's being announced, but we already know virtually for certain almost every detail of the headlining device. The only surprises will be in the clock speed and any new additions to OS 4.0.
I'm hoping Apple managed to keep something interesting a relative secret and will announce it now (something like new :apple:TV or cloud-streaming iTunes that works like Simplify did) so there is a point in watching

FYI: Incase you guys are afraid of people ruining the thread, I will update the first post with the link to the Keynote once I receive word it's up. So you can just bookmark page 1 of this thread and just look at the first post.

You sir, are a gentleman :)

I think I'm ready for first spoiler free keynote, all I have to do now is resist from peeking.

Its that time of the year again :D I think this will be number 5 for me.

If I remember correctly, last years came out around 8 PM.. what time do you all think we will get it this year?

I'm new to the whole watching the video instead of the blogs thing. Does it typically come out that late in the evening? I was kind of hoping it would be up by the mid/late afternoon...

Yeh, they tend to take a long time. 2007 was around 8:30, 2008 was around 6:30 and last years was around 8:00... So it really depends on when apple gets their act together.

Seriously. I don't get why it should take sooo long. But in the end they rarely disappoint, and I'm always glad I waited.

You know. I've been thinking about it. I think I've been spoiler free since 2000. I would have been 13. I remember watching the MWSF '00 keynote live streaming. Steve introduced OS X. It was magical. After having your world rocked by Steve Jobs, spoiler free was just the natural instinct. After they stopped streaming it, they used to air the live satellite feed at certain Apple Stores. At the time, the nearest Apple store was 200 miles away, AND THEY WEREN'T SHOWING THE FEED! Had to drive to the Apple store 300 miles away to be spoiler free.

I made that trip with my mom a few times. Whenever they showed the feed there, there would be dozens and dozens of mac fans lined up around the corner of the Apple Store. Nearly in the hundred. I always used the employee entrance of the mall to get the first place in line super early while my mom went back to go sleep at the motel. ;)

Nowadays the only way to be spoiler free (besides actually being at the keynote) is to cut yourself off from the media and preface your phone calls with stern warnings against steve spoilers...BUT IT'S WORTH IT I SAY! WORTH IT!!!!

Hey! If you need something to kill some time tomorrow, I recommend watching the MWSF '00 keynote I was talking about or at least the OS X part. It's freaky how closely the intro still describes the current OS X.

Start of the OS X intro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-h7NrYv4ChE#t=36s

I'd forgotten a few things he talks about. Like the fact that Save buttons and stuff dim and brighten. I'd totally stopped noticing! :D

Btw, in 2000 Steve said that OS X was their strategy throughout the rest of the decade. Well it's 2010, where's OS XI? There used to be a few rumors about it years ago, but it was probably untrue at the time. Pretty daunting task really. there's not much point in calling it OS XI unless it's radically different somehow. The word 'next-gen' comes to mind. hmmm.

In the 2005 WWDC Keynote, Jobs said OS X will be the plan for the "next 20 years." Of course, he was probably just picking a random number but I'm sure his point was OS X would be long lasting and it will be especially with its variations (iPhone OS is based on OS X).

Thanks Arn + crew, as always, for setting everything up for us. I'll be having a few friends over tomorrow evening for dinner and we'll be watching the stream then (assuming it's posted). Always a good time!

Seriously. I don't get why it should take sooo long.

I imagine most of the time is spent in quality control and multicam (i.e. making sure that the active camera changes at the appropriate time, invoking the split camera/keynote slide view, etc.). They did this in realtime back when they streamed it, but it was probably a lot more labor-intensive for a live production.

Had to drive to the Apple store 300 miles away to be spoiler free.

Now that's dedication! I did the same thing with some friends for WWDC 2003 (the last time they broadcast it I believe), but the store we went to was a more manageable 100 miles away:cool:. Actually those friends are the same ones heading over for dinner tomorrow :D. It certainly was an event to remember, though, watching it with a bunch of other people in the store.

Don't they still broadcast the keynote to other rooms in the Moscone Center? I thought that was the main reason they had the whole multi cam setup. It wasn't just for the streaming.

Sadly I wont be spoiler free this time.

With all the leaks and with it being almost impossible to avoid the news on this one I think I may as well read the streams on it :(

I'd offer to post the keynote link but being in the uk the last few have been live at silly o clock in the morning (another reason why I'm not holding out this time)

Enjoy your spoiler free people!

Hello to all the new faces and the regulars! Unfortunatly I have an exam tomorrow, so I won't be going spoiler-free this time, so good luck to you all!
