Working late into the night here (currently 3 AM Central), so I won't have a big problem sleeping through most of the day tomorrow, then I am off to work at 4 PM. Once it gets late (say midnight tomorrow night) my work load will lighten up and I should start to be able to watch the stream. So it really doesn't matter to me when the stream comes out because I won't be able to watch it until late anyway.

But, as I said, if there is a new iPhone and if it is available for purchase tomorrow (I doubt it) then I will leave for work early and stop by an Apple store to buy it (my first iPhone), all the while trying to remain as spoiler free as possible... wish me luck!

Matthew

This will be my 3rd or 4th spoiler-free attempt. I've been mostly successful... but this year's going to be the hardest; I've become quite a twitter-addict and there are many mac enthusiasts I subscribe to, even though I subscribe to zero techie or mac-specific tweeters, there's bound to be spoilage abounding....

The amount of time between keynotes is precisely the amount of time it takes me to forget the length of the delay between the keynote itself and the video going online.

Some have said 8:00 or 8:30 were good estimates... are those ET or PT timezone estimates?

Those are Eastern Standard Time. Last year, it was online around 8:00PM. Same with the past two events (iPod one and iPad one).

With the event coming closer, it's time for a checklist of what to do before the keynote starts:
  • Change your default homepage to either BLANK or this thread
  • If you use Safari or a browser with a similar feature: turn off Top Sites
  • Exit your Email program
  • Exit your twitter program
  • Turn off notifications on your iPhone/iPod/iPad
  • Disable auto updates in system preferences
  • Turn off radio and tv
  • Uncheck iTunes option to notify of available updates
  • Disable your RSS-Reader!

During the keynote:
  • Remember not to visit ANY site that could possibly contain spoilers: Facebook, twitter, the usual tech sites are absoulte no-go-areas. And keep in mind that even google search results may contain spoilers in form of ads or news articles
  • Don't visit the iTunes store!
  • Don't turn on tv or radio
  • And most importantly: don't click on ANY link provided in this thread, until it has been verified as spoiler-free by another member of the forums!

I think I got all important things. If I missed something, feel free to add to this list.

Don't they still broadcast the keynote to other rooms in the Moscone Center? I thought that was the main reason they had the whole multi cam setup. It wasn't just for the streaming.

Ah, that's a good point! I've not been to an actual WWDC so I don't know if they stream it live within the building, but it makes sense.

Last time I was at an Apple Keynote they had cameras providing a live feed to nearby conference rooms.

Brilliant checklist.

Would add to it thusly:

  • email all friends who know you as "the mac guy" and would likely e-mail you about the keynote assuming you're already in the know

Definitely do NOT look at engadget from this point on. :(

Sorry for your loss bud! I made that mistake once last year; I assumed nothing would leak out before the Keynote and it surely did.

As sad as it is, I've cut off all 'contact' from the web (besides this thread), not looking/responding to texts/call from Apple-centric friends, and warned fellow co-workers not to mention anything.

I did this last Keynote and it worked. Let's hope I don't slip though!

Oh, I totally understand you, I've been spoiler free for several years but this will be only my second keynote as a twitter user, it's the hardest thing! I use a tweak on my iPhone that allows me to load my twitter client just by touching the volume button a couple times, so I do it all the time, without thinking... oh man, I hope I don't blow it today... :p

I've gone dark, too. Will check this thread from time to time. I hope nobody will spoil it for us.
Have fun!

And to have something to talk about: What will you guys be doing until the video is up?
I'm in Germany so it's already 5:30 pm here. I'll visit my parents, have a very nice and hopefully long dinner, and most likely will watch the keynote tomorrow morning when I wake up. Luckily I don't have to work tomorrow so I won't have to get up extra early to squeeze in the keynote before work.

Hello everyone!

Today I made some changes to the keynote checker script. I noticed that none of the old links worked with iPhone or iPad. So I took another look at Apple's website, and noticed that it serves a special kind of stream for iPhone 3.x and iPad. The modified script should be able to handle the new stream properly. I attached a screenshot of the script after it posts the stream links.

Enjoy! http://bit.ly/KeynoteChecker

Good way to start your day ;)

It will probably be up at 8PM for me; until then I work til 6PM. Then get a quick work-out in and eat dinner. Then from 7:15 onwards I'll be checking for links.

@Voidness: Holy crap. You always go above & beyond!

So glad to be back here. My 2nd since barricading myself in my home office waiting for the iPad stream. Let the good times roll.....

What do you expect from todays keynote?

Personally I'm very curious IF the lost iPhone will be mentioned at all, and even more if the design really was the final one.
I'd like it if they could really surprise us with some tweaks or even some completely different design.
Other things I'd like to hear about (but don't think will be mentioned) are "iTunes cloud" and OS X 10.7

Hey, I'm new to the forums. I read this thread during the last keynote but didn't post. Last time was my first spoiler free keynote and it went pretty well until my own mother called me talking about the iPad. She didn't understand why I was so upset.

This time around I have a midterm so staying spoiler-free will hopefully limit my distractions from studying. *fingers crossed*

Hey thanks Voidness. You are a true legend in the spoiler-free threads.:D

Good luck with that. Hmm that reminds me of an exam qualification I have to submit this thursday. Guess I should work on that as well…

TIP: Don't use the Apple Keynotes podcast.

The name of the last podcast is "Apple Announces iPad" so it could well include a product name. I was already spoiled on the name so it didn't really matter to me, but if I had found out there, just as I was starting to watch it, I'd have been mightly annoyed.

TIP2: Leave this thread.

This thread always gets spoilers, normally minor and some are OK with that, but if you didn't even want to know that a product was launched last time, this is not a safe place.

Don't lissen to him, Im always spoiler free if I just follow one simple rule that I've been following for years: visit only this spoiler free site from the time the event start until Voidness says there is a safe link to click.
