I've been there. I yelled "you son of a b**ch" in a crowded room at my friend because he said "So she had the baby huh?" in regards to an episode of King of the Hill I hadn't watched yet. It was weird. The yelling was almost an involuntary reflex. Although after I got him watching Lost, he started having similar reactions towards spoilers, so he get's it now. lol.
It's to do with respect as well.. if someone doesn't want to know, then for god sake don't tell them.

Thanks for the suggestions, i don't think i can get out of napping through the film though, she's paying. I lol'd at the spoiler free and "just nap through it, fair's fair" Sitc2 comments (it pains me to even type the name of the film).

Assuming you're on the west coast and you get to see it in a few hours, you're in for a pleasant surprise. I wasn't sure if Lie to Me would dwindle down to the medicore level many crime shows are at, but tonight's episode probed that the show has a lot of life left, and the twists are still clever.

if you're judging age by taste in cold cut meats, I'm 47. If by sliced cheese, then yes, I am around that age.
Either way, yes, it is a reference to that awful waste of film that is SatC2. I'd honestly rather spend the day gorging on dime store quality sliced ham.
