-i didnt camp out all night on a dirty sidewalk
-i will buy a 3g iphone that at that point can easily be activated
-i did upgrade my iphone to 2.0 (pre-2.0 to be exact) yesterday
-i didnt disable that phone because it cannot be re-activated after the upgrade

-I DO have a perfectly functional iphone with several FANTASTIC new features i can enjoy and show off to friends
-I AM having a better than normal day with no stress and the added fun of enjoying 2.0

Hey ME TOO!!! http://www.youtube.com/user/auzburner

Couldn't get a 3g iPhone because of an At&T screw up and At&t screwed up again an cut off my service and now I am trying to re-active my old iPhone and i can't get into iTunes

At&T and Apple really really really screwed this launch up.

somebody losing there job wont make me happy that my new 3 g 16 g I bought for my wife works, but mine is still bricked.
Apple screwd the pooch again, and I continue to buy...buy...buy...
I am STUPID:confused:

:: click :: fail :: click :: fail :: click :: pray :: fail ::

i feel like... back the day, when i was trying to dial up on AOL...

anyone else?

Correction - SEVERAL PEOPLE need to lose their jobs.

Someone needs to lose their job because 20 million iPod Touch users, 6.4 million Gen 1 iPhone users and a couple of million new 3G iPhone users all decided to update their iPhones on Friday 11th...

mmh...seems a bit dumb that Apple didn't stagger the V2.0 rollout to users over the course of this week, but don't see why anyone needs to lose their job over this - normal service will resume over the next day or so...

If you launch a popular product on a certain day, then you as the company, have the responsibility to make damn well sure that the product you release be able to function properly on said date.

Now understand the issues with the first launch a year ago, after all it was Apple's first foray into the cell-phone world, HOWEVER, this second year is different and they should have had thier bases covered. Point blank PERIOD...

Sometimes it pays to not be an early adopter guinea pig. :)

Same as you, except I DID upgrade my iphone to 2.0 yesterday and have a perfectly function iphone with lots of new apps to go along with my normal day and little stress. :)

:mad:I was fourth in line to get it at my AT&T store. Out of the first nine people in I think 2 of them activated while I was there. They sent me home and I tried for at least 30 mins and got nowhere. I guess I'm gonna go back to the store after work. This is beyond absurd. Why would Apple not be better prepared for a massive wave of Activations??

Lol the exact same thing for me, wifes was the last one in the store to actually get activated, mine still dead.. next time she goes second.. I go first! :)

Seriously tho, this is my company phone, I will not be happy if it is dead all day.. not that I can change anything.. but that is just bad planning.

Fees Back

AT&T needs to refund activation fees. They can collect it back from Apple. I mean, for many of us, nothing has been activated. I can't see paying for something I'm not getting.

I'm disturbed by comments from smug individuals who chose not to wait in line on launch day, and therefore somehow feel we who did deserve our current troubles. Early adopters have every right to expect decent service for hard-earned money. The fault lies with the company who failed to make sure they could provide the infrastructure necessary to support all devices sold.

Wtf!

i love my brand new 8GB apple iPaperwieght!

WTF! :apple:

no craptivation!

i guess i will try when i get home after work.

wanna hear something sad?

we went to att this morning and bought 2 phones. the girl behind the counter hooked me up fine.

i went home and synced to itunes- went fine. then i hooked up the wife's and i messed up and registered my name to her iphone. i didn't know what to do so i just hit restore so i could do it again. restored fine but now i'm in the same boat as the rest of you.

i bricked her phone :(

man is she pissed at me, mainly because mine is working well :O

I had the activation issue, but was persistent and able to activate it after about 30 minutes of trying. To those who are trying to activate now; wait until it gets into the evening hours on the east coast - less load = less waiting/errors.
In other news; my Apple store was a mess today. I waited since 1am outside my Apple store; was harassed by mall security even though the Apple management said our line was ok; and then didn't get to leave the store until after 1pm. To make a long story short, ATT screwed up my account big time - I was on the phone with an ATT rep, in the Apple store, for over 4 hours.

Correction - SEVERAL PEOPLE need to lose their jobs.

Because of a problem that causes delays and some frustration you really think several people should be let go? That would possibly lead to them losing their house due to the job market being a little weak in some areas. If my employer had such a knee jerk reaction without figuring out what went wrong before deciding of someone performs so poorly that they have to be let go for a single problem, then I'd be looking to find a new job with a company that will consider the facts before making decisions that will have a negative impact on their employees. Most companies today has a policy of "mistakes are acceptable, if your not making mistakes you are not trying hard enough".

yeah!

behold my iPaperweight!

sorry for the 1 min crappy photo. i'm at work and just have paint!

Somewhere someones body is rejecting their newly transplanted heart...

...but I'm sure all he/she can think about is how much misery Apple has caused a small sliver of humanity by depriving them of their cell phone service for several hours...or god forbid, maybe even a whole day!

(Those in the the third world complaining about the global rise if food prices should also take notice that things could be a lot worse for them, they could be the new owners of a 3g iPhone...oh, the horror!)

My phone not only activated about 20 mins ago, but sync'd and I am off and running.

Try again and keep trying! This inside info is BS.

Experience during lunch hour

I have an ATT store and an Apple Store 2 min from each other. The Att store had about 50 people in line while the apple store has about 150. Spoke to someone that was near the front at the Apple Store. He said it takes about an hour to process 20 people. I am wondering if that's even with just having people activate it at home.

I think I am going to wait until tomorrow or VERY late today.

Just activated after 2.5 hours - so the servers are still working - just v slow -

keep at it.....

Did you just keep clicking on the iPhone under devices and trying it for awhile? Mine is still saying network connection timed out. I guess it's just a waiting game now..........

Took 2 hours of trying but finally activated - persevere people - these apps are very much worth it.

Remote and Monkey Ball are rocking my socks
