Out of all of these examples, I've yet to hear of another example of something like this being juxtaposed with a children's icon. That's the whole point of our contention with the ad.
So? It's not like spongebob is humping their big square butts. It really didn't seem sexual to me. It seemed like a bit of fun. It's only suggestive if you try to look at it that way and kids won't.

That's my point, is both suggestive and kid-themed. Don't get me wrong, I think you can hind suggestiveness in something (happens all the time in popular animated movies), but when you resort to something so blatantly physical in nature, it's much less subtle.
And the comparison of other nations' reactions to this is part of the point. In America, this is going to be viewed as suggestive in some manner. This perception is always something the creators are knowledgeable about. Perception creates the reality. If adults are being conditioned to have some response to material, it follows that it would have an affect on the children as well.
Then you missed my point. Kids won't look for suggestiveness. They'll take it at face value. Sponge Bob SquarePants and some square butts on girls. It's just silly and I'm sure that's about all they'd take from it. I, as an adult, had to REALLY try to find it suggestive. Even trying to find it, the suggestiveness is SO minor I really don't understand the outrage, at all. It's a square butt, he's squarepants. It's really no big deal.
Lets say for arguments sake that kids find it slightly suggestive. So what? Some girls dancing with squares in their shorts were on TV. I think some of you are over-analyzing it a bit too much.
The distinction is that the suggestiveness has the subtlety of a sledgehammer. I agreed with your point when I talked about how animated movies do it a lot more under the radar.
LOL, well it's not subtle but I don't think it's oozing sexuality either. Kids all know they have butts and sponge bob's is square. The square butts thing is sort of amusing. I just don't think they'll take a lot more than that from it.
Right so why do they need to put women shaking their @sses at the camera in the commercial? Why can't they just put Sponge Bob in the commercial? They did so they can get some cheap publicity. It's inappropriate for young kids IMO. That's all I have to say about this.

Not to mention that this:

Is a picture taken from a SpongeBob episode (not something from a commercial or anything) A sponge sticking his ass out with a big split down the middle for people to see his underwear?!?!? Madness!
LOL! That reminds me of a tissue box I have. As long as its a clean underwear fetish, we're willing to overlook it.![]()
