yea I suppose I will go with a macbook. I am not a big gamer or 3d designer by any means. the macbook pros are just real nice the only way I would even afford one is through the apple refurbished computers. Even still they are priced way over what I will make working this summer. I could buy one if I really wanted but that would leave me extremely broke and I need to practice good spending habits early

Also watch this site for rumors... there MAY be a NEW MacBook coming this summer, which would be a better machine for the same price as the current one. There's a chance it might have a better GPU (still low-end) and a metal shell for instance. And faster CPUs are a given (though the current ones are already very fast).

If you can wait and get the NEXT generation MacBook, that might work out great. The question is... when?

Did you guys figure out what was causing this crash? I seem to be having a similar problem. My crash log says the same thing about a missing semicolon - but the app actually gives me this error as well:

Any thoughts? I've tried re-installing it but it made no difference.

I have the exact same error message! (I have an iMac 20", 2 GHz intel core duo)

I tried emailing both the American as the Dutch branch of EA, (I'm Dutch, but the full creator creator isn't officially available in the Netherlands yet, hence the emailage to the American branch as well.) but so far they haven't sent me a response.

If they do e-mail me with some useful information I'll be sure to post it here.

I downloaded the trail version and it works great on my MacBook Pro, so I purchased and downloaded the full version (creature creator), but Can't get it to run... gives me the error posted above "the Game Cannot Start... Not Found:GL:5538"

Very frustrating that I grab the demo, works fine, then after paying for it, the full version won't run.

Anyone have any solutions for this yet? I've written EA and am awaiting a response.

ok, got it working... after un-installing and re-installing, still no go. To uninstall, I was just deleting the spore folder in the applications folder (there is no un-install app). Turns out this didn't do anything other than delete those files... all the config files were somewhere else and unaffected. I deleted the config files in CurrentUser/library/Preferences/Spore Creature Creator Preferences (I actually deleted the entire folder), and at that point I could re-install from scratch and this time it ran fine afterward.

well i have an alu i-mac 20'' and i have on even launching the game.i have re installed using app zapper and it deleted of course all the files.but nothing the game just doesnt launch.the 10.5.4 didnt make any difference too..

I have the latest rev 2.4 MBP running 10.5.4.

I was using the trial editor and succumbed to the full version, had the same error after supposedly uninstalling the trial version. I tried, countless times to uninstall, reinstall but it just wasn't working.

The solution I found was:

Drag each individual file in the App>Spore folder to the trash. The main game file, empty trash, the readme, empty trash. Then the folder, empty trash. Then the Library>pref>Spore folder, empty trash.

After that I installed and, finally, it worked.

Hope that helps as it drove me up the wall...

My brother gave me Spore CC. Now I've got this 'download code' which looks like a CD key, but I don't know where or how to use it.

The EA store apparently doesn't have a place to enter this key, so I searched for a bit and found out about the EA Download Manager. But that's Windows-only.

What to do?
