I think the portability argument is a good one. You're not going to carry that SS case around, I guarantee it. It's bulky and surprisingly heavy.

Love the sport watch but gzz, $400 for a hotdog box is not what I expected. At least make it a square like the other models but oh well. Anybody else not care for it or do yall like it? I'm still excited, just saying.

Why does it matter if it's square or not? One could argue this is a more environmentally friendly box. And more portable too.

I must be the only one who really liked the sport boxes:eek:

i like it too since its low profile while some people aregonna cry over it like little sisses lol its just like airplane seats lol eco, bussiness and first. want better legroom, seats , service? pay extra you got it.:D

I was delighted with it, I thought it was a square box , obviously I was behind on the goss !

Does anyone actually carry their watch box/case around for storage? The arguments in here are baffling.

It's just a box that the watch ships in. That you will never touch again, unless you sell it later or are crazy.

Come on, man, you've been an MR member 2.5 years. You know how "unique" people are that post here. :D

I'm already bracing myself for the deluge of "I've returned 12 watches because crown gaps/perceived blemishes/perceived scratches/yellow tint/blue tint/red tint/display too warm/display too cold/band scratches my arm/band doesn't scratch my arm/I thought it had GPS/I thought it had cellular/blah blah blah blah blah blah blah" as soon as Apple stores have stock in hand to being performing exchanges.

You know it's coming. And it's going to be madness.

I've returned 3 already. I haven't noticed anything physically wrong with them, but I just know something is. I can feel it. Going to keep trying until I get one with good vibes.

Are you serious? After you get it out of the box, are you ever going to even look at the box again. Jeez

Well no, not THIS box. But if it was a proper watch box, absolutely.

That's part of the problem. After you wear a watch for a while, leather and rubber straps mould to the shape of your wrist and maintain their circular shape. It won't even be possible to put this watch back in this box after a few weeks.

I don't know about you, but I'm not going to be wearing this watch all day every day. I have a number of watches and for some occasions, this simply won't do. So yes, I would like to put it back in the box, but that won't be an option with this chincy box.

Apple is trying to position this watch, not just as a piece of tech where things like packaging aren't incredibly important, but also as a fashion statement. On that front, this box fails. I've bought cheap $200 watches that come in far better boxes than this.

I think the sports box is better than the SS box....

Yes , when you own multiple watches, you use the box when travelling to protect the watch.

You never put two watches together , even when they have sapphire glass, cause two sapphire watch faces will scratch each other.

I have multiple watches. And I don't carry the boxes around that they come in. I have a traveling watch box for that. Like this

It's not great packaging but I don't hate it. This is also the first watch I've purchased in over 10 years, so I don't have much to compare it to.

I thought it was totally fine. My daughter (who the watch was for) was absolutely thrilled when it arrived and she opened it up.

Is it really necessary to pick every little detail apart and complain about it?

The box was great. Her first statement was, I'm keeping the box!

For crying out loud, what more do you want than that?

I have a watch winder that the watches I'm not currently wearing go into, like this one:

I'm not criticizing you for keeping your watches in the original boxes, but it does seem to be an inelegant, messy solution that won't scale well.

Especially when your collection grows.
