That team up north.
North, as in geographically? North of where?
My avatar. They know who they are.

I'm confused. The famous Apple fanboy went to Rome to see the Pope?
I am also NOT a 'root against' person ... I honestly try to live the mantra that 'you don't build yourself up by tearing others down'.Also - it is just a game.
I think it's more Saban, he just comes off as a weasel.
North of Watford is North.

When I lived in Newcastle 'South' was considered south of Scotch corner.Somehow, in this context, I doubt that he means North of the Watford Gap.

I gotta admit, this thread is a lot of fun. It's nice to see so many others who are not crazy about the cowgirls.
@Scepticalscribe, the avatar that has you confused is for The Ohio State University. OSU is one of the best schools around, with an amazing med school. (Ok, so I'm a little biased towards OSU.) Their traditional rival is Michigan. If you go any further north than Michigan you find yourself in Canada. Once there you start getting into hockey rivals.
GO BUCKS!!
Should I find myself in the company of people who care about sports and who are actively watching the match in my presence, I typically root for the opposite team.
I don't care about sports, but I do it for the sake of (friendly) antagonism.
Also, I know better than to do this re football in Europe.
You might be hard pressed if you did this in some towns in the US. Not all, but some.![]()
I excercise prudent judgment.![]()

I have a tendancy to dislike teams based on thier fans. I still to this date have met very few cool Steelers fans and mostly jerks. Always root against them and thier rapist QB.
