The only change I want is for them to add "Set as current playlist" back. It's such a useful thing to be able to do, but because the majority of people are clueless they had to remove it...

Why not just hide a toggle for it in advanced settings at least?

Not being able to set the playlist means that you're either having to sit there and wait while the current song finishes, and then ninjaswap before the next one starts, or you're doing a middle school disco swap in the middle of a song.

Both are ****.

I got the update like at least month ago but don't have the "Now Playing" tab on the right side or i don't know to turn it on

Just click the down/up arrow on the Now Playing box lower left side.
It seems to pop up then.

so NICE, thank you ! do you know of any similar app for youtube music ?

or rather, any app that supports any audio source playing. like the ability to pause/play, go next/previous , being app agnostic (not just apple music and spotify ) ?

also any way to keep the miniplayer on the foreground? use chrome in fullscreen , but have the mini player remains on foreground
You're most welcome! :)

Dont' know about YouTube music, but I guess it should be able to play and control even music files playing directly from the Finder. I cannot try it now as I don't have any such files...:)

But what I do know that you can keep the mini player on top of all the apps - see the screenshot. And it works, just tested it.

The filters that must be applied to the "Your library" list to get to artists or songs has been my top annoyance on the mobile app for months, not happy to see it made its way to the desktop client.

Seriously, I sometimes wonder if there's someone over at Spotify whose wet dream is to come up with the worst UI on Earth (I'm exaggerating, but still).

Just realised I'm gonna miss my custom mini player on my Touch Bar when I upgrade my MacBook next time.
Touch Bar is such a useful feature. I never used Function keys, so getting some awesome functionality out of that section, depending on the app, has been really great. Whomever did use Function keys, we’re apparently really loud. Was surprised to see Apple’s about-face on that one. Was really interested to see it evolve. It feels like a cousin to Dynamic Island and, from a design language/consistency angle, would maybe(?) be more accepted today than back in ‘18. Maybe one of those great idea, wrong timing scenarios. Regardless, I’m not looking forward to losing that functionality whenever I move on from mine.

Not sure there’s enough of us, but I’d happily back a Bring Back Touch Bar (BBTB) campaign. 😜

I like the redesign - and having it match the iOS app is a bonus since I switch back and forth so much.

To me: it’s not “cluttered” - it’s useful… showing you a lot of things without having to dig.

If I can vent... Spotify did away with "playlist radio". I cannot understand why, but it was a great feature, and I enjoy Spotify much less due to this change.

My issue was that it wasn’t consistent. It should have been EVERYWHERE. They should have released an external keyboard with it and it should have been on iPad keyboards.

By not making an external keyboard with it - it meant that I could never allow myself to truly get used to / rely on it… because I plug my laptop into a dock for a lot of my day.

I thought it was good - it just needed a push. They also messed up and went too far too quickly… and tied it to the worst keyboard ever (butterfly switch) and the worst MBP ever (they were expensive, slow, hot, lost hdmi and SDCard, etc.).

If they would have rolled it out universally, without changing the rest of the MBP, and without removing the escape and power buttons - it would not have been so bad. As it was - they tied an interesting new feature to a turd redesign of the MBP… and the whole thing flopped.

BTW: since it sounds like you still don’t have an M1/2 laptop: you really should! They are FANTASTIC… you won’t miss the touchbar because of how great the laptop is.

I'm using this for few weeks already and it's quite smooth. Finally people are going away from linear stack design apps that are just horrible for cases where there is background work, like playing music. Still, could be made much better by simply adding tabs but hey, baby steps. Maybe one day I'll be able to have album open in one tab, and search for something in another.

Anyone else get this update like 6 weeks ago?
Only part of it, the right hand panel with the artist info still isn't present for me even after updating this morning. It'll probably just populate on its own without me being alerted to an update (that's how the mess with the new Library left panel was "updated" to me).

Spotify for macOS still has that stupid problem where when pressing “back” in the search panel, it temporarily says “no results found for [previous search]” before loading them. It seems like a memory issue. Either way, it makes it feel like I’m using dial-up for a bit there.(The same thing happens on the PC version, so it’s not a Mac problem).

I preferred the old design but I can live with this.
What is driving me nuts (and ever closer to switching to a different service) is that for my most-used playlist it does not remember that I have it sorted by Artist. Instead, it randomly decides to use Custom sorting.
