It's sad. Apple always used to be "late to the party" but whatever they created would be better than what was out there (ex. Copy/Paste, Multitasking in iOS, etc..). Now, they have a habit of being late & their products being inferior.

There is a common thread among what is inferior, it's their services, namely anything Eddie 'no clue' Cue touches.

And yet Spotify doesn't have the new Radiohead album yet. If Spotify had the ability to let me upload my own music id be more open to letting it be my main music service. I hate not being able to fill in the catalogue gaps or when music gets taken away.
you can upload your own music via the desktop app.

Nearly all of Apple's services from Music to AirPlay to PodCasts are neglected and sub-par compared to the competition, and Apple doesn't seem to even care! Their smugness beggars belief! Their hardware business seems to be shrinking and they want to ultimately make up for this through services, but most of their services are crap! They're always late to the show but when they actually arrive what they bring with them is not good enough! Wakeup before you become another Microsoft or IBM as they were back in the bad old days. Cue needs to go and Cook needs to realise the company he's running is becoming a visionless, slow and bloated dinosaur! This probably won't happen but I'd like to see a guy like Elon Musk takeover Apple and shake it up to its core like Jobs did back in the 90s, this company desperately needs that now.

It is quite clear that a lot of people live in a world where a product or service does not exist in their minds (or is deemed useful or interesting) until Apple does it.

It has happened time and time again, so the pattern holds true this time as well.

In that respect it is no surprise at all that other streaming services also get a boost as a result of Apple Music.

How long has Spotify been around - 7 or 8 years? I guess attracting subscribers is not too difficult if you're willing to lose money,.

It is all about volume though. The basic costs are probably largely the same if you have 10, 15 or 20 million paying customers. As soon as you get to a certain level every new customer from there on is largely pure profit.

Yep it's a superior service and app all around than Apple Music. Although both services are increasingly losing out on major artists newest releases like Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Radiohead... and other missing artists all together like Prince which is a disappointment.

We have 50% more customers....to lose money on. Someone needs an MBA badly....

Do you have it synced with your iTunes library?

Well, as soon as Spotify releases a proper app for apple watch I'm going to ditch the Apple Music with no regrets.

After using both services I can say Spotify is way better in everything, not only me concluded that all my friends too
Yesterday I installed Spotify on my iPad. I already have a subscription to Apple Music, but wanted to see what all the talk was. After using Spotify, I see no advantage or disadvantage with one app over the other. They basically do the same thing just a bit different. One has a white back ground, one black.
I am beginning to think the Macrumors is just a bunch of people who like to sound important by telling us much smarter they are than Apple.

Better playlists , better interface (more easy) to navigate, it works for real without any problem with your local files, better "discover" function (more bands/indies/alternative), it has special better features like running etc etc, it's not only to compare the background as you did.

Spotify royalty payouts are pathetic. Our label have been on Apple since 2006 and the payouts for streaming are 500% higher that Spotify even though we have far fewer plays on Apple Music. Because of this we have pulled all of our Music off Spotify.

OF course I did more than look at the background, that was the only thing I found that was actually different. What do you feel is better about the playlist? They both function and perform their function. I have had no problem with my local files using Apple Music. I see no difference in the interface actually other than the color. They both show you the songs or albums. Apples is maybe a bit more attractive. As far as more bands, I can't really comment. I compared the music I had in Apple Music, and was able to find the same albums in Spotify. I don't listen to alternative music so I don't know.

I find Apple Music very difficult to use on all apple devices. It needs a redesign badly.
Yeah, I moved to Spotify and stopped using music.app/iTunes almost entirely after Apple made listening to music aggravating. Never thought I would/could because it meant giving up on a library that's been in the works since iPod mini days, but it was unbearable when it first came along:

-"join apple music" splash screen got in the way of me putting on my music and then locked up
-Shuffle library was removed (back now)
-No longer able to listen to radio stations w/o joining

Apple, if your going to mess with something as personal and valued as your music experience, get it right.

I had planned to leave Spotify last year but it is in fact the better system. AM for me has slightly better sound quality, but Spotify is worth it just for the Discover Weekly playlist and interface.
AM has two playlists to fill that gap: My New Music Mix and My Favourites Mix, both updated weekly.

Falling on deaf ears flanking egotistical minds.
