Great question. I’m unable to rapidly determine which songs are cloud or local, and your good suggestion isn’t very feasible on the device as I’m sure you’re aware hence suggesting to use iTunes. Strange though that I’d have to use iTunes for an efficient way to classify or separate local & purchased music I own vs streaming music.

I definitely don’t wish to have all my music into one playlist and can remove later on; deleting a playlist isn’t made clear if it’ll delete downloaded music or not though. Since I need to rebuild my playlists I’ll do that before I crash tonight after the gym. Thanks for the tip :)
There’s a “downloaded music” tab that will show your downloaded music. Also I suggested iTunes to make a playlist to put all your music in because then on your phone the playlist will have a cloud icon to download the entire list to the device. Deleting the playlist does not delete the downloaded content. Just the playlist itself. As long as all the tracks are added to your library. I suggested iTunes because making a playlist on the phone and then trying to add everything would take an eternity.

I agree. I wish they would update the music app to be as robust as iTunes in sorting, searching and managing your tracks. It’s the only connection that really still requires iTunes in the picture.
