Traffic is traffic. Carriers have zero reason to care which device data is going too.

I don't know about this particular restriction, but historically speaking the carriers have definitely been the source of some data restrictions such as blocking Facetime over the air and blocking tethering.

Not sure - the image at the top of the story shows Discover Weekly and Release Radar, so possibly not personally curated playlists just yet.
[doublepost=1542128625][/doublepost]V 8.4.79 just appeared for me on Updates. “Includes first version of Apple Watch app.”

I just downloaded the update myself. It lets you shuffle play from your recently played playlists, but it doesn’t let you browse individual playlists. That’s unfortunate. Doesn’t seem like that would have taken that much extra effort to implement on the first version... unless the scroll view is getting in the way. Seems like a slight design issue. They would have to figure out what to do with the now playing view, if that’s the case. I’ve never developed a Watch app so I’m not 100% sure what the limitations are here.

While streaming Spotify on my way home from work this evening, I looked at my Watch and noticed a notification from Spotify. Next thing I know, I have the app on my Watch.

Pretty cool thus far. Looking forward to using it more tomorrow when my iPhone isn't connected to CarPlay.

Got the update 8.4.79 on my phone that says includes the AW version but it does not show up on my watch.

Your son is correct. The equalizer that’s built in to Spotify is excellent. I’ve used Spotify, Apple Music and Tidal Hi-Fi (the expensive higher quality version)— and I like Spotify the best.

The EQ has 5 settings which keeps it both easy and useful. I have pairs of headphones that either have a little too much bass, or too much treble, and a little tweak of the EQ fixes that. (It’s not as nerdy or difficult as it may sound.)

Some of my favorite albums were also mixed a little strangely, and if I’m feeling particularly anal, I might adjust the EQ to better fit an album.

Apple Music, like many current Apple interfaces is stripped down and “minimal” to the point that it feels kind of stupid. I understand wanting to keep the UI clean and uncluttered, but Apple keeping sound modification so simple that in place of an EQ (that you could screw up! /s) you get presets like “Rock” or “Classical”— and like all EQ presents I found them worthless.

You and my son are tempting me to drop Apple Music for Spotify.

It’s not even optimised for the new watch sizes. Tiny interface sucks on my 40mm.
Still pretty buggy sadly, took a while for my recently played to show up and sometimes clicking playlists or albums doesn’t always play them

Most people don’t have good enough headphones for EQ to make much of a difference. This is such a niche thing that I hope Apple doesn’t spend too much time on it. If they improve one thing, I hope it’s sound check.

As for the UI, I’ve had no problems moving from Spotify to AM, and the clean interface I think is a testament to Apple’s UI genius... cos it packs a ton of features which are easily discoverable. I also love how seamlessly it integrates my library of 40K+ songs with Apple’s catalog which is something I struggled mightily to set up in Spotify. That, plus Siri integration gives AM a huge UX advantage over Spotify... add to that AM’s larger catalog of music, tight integration with Apple’s ecosystem, etc. and it shouldn’t surprise anyone why Spotify is losing users to AM.

Why on earth is the complication white? It really doesn’t blend well with the watch face. Green, which ironically is the real colour of Spotify’s logo, would’ve been so much better.

I don’t understand.

If you're streaming music to your watch and then streaming it bluetooth back out to earbuds, you're consuming a lot more battery than normal usage.

I think the lack of streaming and earbud connection is part Spotify needing more development time and part Apple not wanting people to drain their batteries in under 12 hours.

So is Homekit support for Ring. Unless it's out, take.commments like that with a grain of salt.

It.does not have Cell & Offline support, full stop.
Don't know what Ring is. But if Spotify says the features are on the way, I don't see why we should take it with a grain of salt. It's not a rumor.
