Spotify
i'd be happy to move to Apple Music but it's not a good as Spotify. music discovery is better on Spotify by a mile. AM also lacks some features like auto play after music ends. I gave Apple Music a shot (still got the free trial) and it was annoying having to go back into the app to to start music again.

also, the biggest issue for me is that there is no proper way to listen to it on Windows. I'm not using iTunes lmfao and the web player is a broken buggy mess which constantly logs me out, regularly doesn't play songs when i click them, and just generally feels so slow to navigate. I did try using Apple Music Cider which is probably the best way to listen to AM on PC but it's run by trashy people and the app is very buggy still.

i know some will be like "just get a Mac duh!" but if Apple wants to be a true competitor to Spotify and get more subscribers they will need to start taking Windows seriously. It is significantly larger market share than MacOS and they are missing out on a lot of money. i mean, they decided to release AM on Android.

I decided to go back to Spotify because it doesn't make sense for me to have Apple Music on my iPhone/iPad and Spotify on PC. Spotify works brilliant across any device and it's Apple loss. I'd be happy to jump on the Apple One sub but nah they need to do better.
Music discovery? I myself know what I want to listen to and what is good. I choose albums and artists myself.
Besides, I don't like spotify because they are liar and thieves.

Wait, how is that even the shuffle button if it’s not shuffled with another button anymore?

Does anybody else find (with both Spotify and Apple Music) shuffle mode seems to be crap, it always feels like it just plays the same 20 songs on loop. My main playlist has 800 songs in yet it's always the same ones played. Maybe it's just in my head!
No that's been every shuffle I've ever used since the beginning. I've even had a lost list that I was playing for a while, and one repeated before they all played. Play every song before reshuffling

This change rolled out to my devices a month ago. And yeah, Spotify still is light years better than Apple Music.

I do miss Spotify. Maybe I'll try it out again. I moved to Apple Music because of the higher audio quality and because I got a DAC and some decent headphones. The overall UI in Spotify is much better than in Apple Music.

Never understood this design choice to begin with, but glad it's finally done.
I haven't used Spotify for several years, so forgive me if wrong, but I believe free users could only shuffle. You had to subscribe in order to play what you want, on-demand. So the design idea was to push more subs.

Apple does not even take a Mac seriously with regards to Apple Music. The fact that Spotify runs much more smoothly on a Mac than does Apple Music and that Apple Music runs better on an Android phone than on a Mac says it all. What an embarrassing **** show Apple Music is on Apple's own hardware.

i don't get what this means...

that image shows that the shuffle and play buttons are seperate and that's what it looks like in Spotify for me right now... so WTF are they doing?

this is what it looks like for me on iOS... so i already have this change? i'm sure it's been like that forever... or am i being dumb and missing something here?

It's weird how in the 00s, iTunes on the desktop - Windows/Mac - was incredible (umm apart from Ping maybe) but as you said, they've really stultified.

I imagine that the iTunes for Windows development team now consists of half a summer intern's time, with Apple Music on the Mac being half of a recent grad's/new hire's time.

They all do this and I don’t understand why. Seems really basic and has been a problem for probably a decade or more.

just get a Mac…

I'm confused... I'm on version 8.7.42.1716 and they are separate. I'm pretty sure mine have been separate for awhile, but I've never really paid attention. My music is always on shuffle anyway since I listen to my playlists and rarely ever listen to an album all the way through.

Spotify Connect is literally the biggest thing for me (among other things) to not even consider Apple Music. I LOVE being able to pass my music around between my phone, iPad, computer, Xbox, PC, etc. depending on what I'm doing.

I loved Spotify.

Then they started making a complete mess of the user experience.
It got worse when Podcasts were forced into the UI with no way to say "No Thanks." I use Apple Podcasts (for better or worse), so I have no interest in Spotify.

Then they said they're not going to integrate with Siri.

Now this.

I'm not a fan of Apple Music - except for Siri integration and my Homepods. So, I'm going to drop Spotify soon.

Podcasts are the exact reason we had to leave, I have kids and so we had some parental controls, but then Spotify inserted podcasts and they could listen to whatever they wanted, so we had to bail. Why don't they just part it out and have a Podify or Spotcasts app.

"We decided that chronological playing of the album as the original artist intended was old fashioned and used an algorithm to decide the order of the tracks for you instead"

This is only applicable for playlists, not albums. The author of the article threw in the stuff about the Adele album and confused the issue, but that's not really related to this.

As a former Spotify user and current Apple Music user Spotify is way easier and more intuitive to use at least for me. Took me ages to find the repeat single track feature in Apple music and you can’t even swipe to go back and forth between tracks?! Forcing me some bs tracks after finishing my playlist?! Annoying as hell.

Maybe you should take another look at AM, it already has auto play, there is an auto play button next to the shuffle and repeat buttons.
