Spotlight not working in 8.1.1

We have a half dozen iThings in our household. What worked for us consistently is unchecking Applications, exiting the menu, pull the shade down as if to search (on the home menu), then clicking Applications on again. It should index and search fine after that. At least it did for us.

In settings/spotlight, drag apps to the top of search results. Then open spotlight and type a period. Every app on your device will be listed, and this seems to index them.

this totally worked! sweet!

i didnt even have to change setting just typed in a . and all apps where listed just as you said ... now works like it should.. nice!
