Whats pissing me off is my sprint 3g on my iphone im getting under 100kbps. On my evo that i gave to my roommate on 3g is getting over 800+ and im sitting right next to him running the speed test on the same server wtf????? i contacted sprint and all they did was refresh my service which didnt do anything.

AT&T is so bad in my house, I have to go outside to really use it.

Speedtest.net gave me:

196 pint
0.26 Mbps down
0.05 Mbps up

My girlfriend on Verizon gets much better service in/at my house. As a telephone, mine is usable (just not great quality) in the house though.

If we go literally 5 minutes to her fathers house, my phone works absolutely perfect on AT&T but her's is literally unusable (won't even place a call most of the time, let alone get you more than 30 seconds if it does connect) on Verizon.

It's all about where you frequent.

I drive all over the state of Connecticut and my sprint 4s has sucked consistently, going to the apple store tomorrow and hopefully they have some 16gb AT&T left

Sprint bashing is the new AT&T bashing, I see. I don't have a problem with Sprint's network *in my area* but things may be different for others. Ultimately, it's up to you to do the research on these things before you go and sign up for a contract.

Not bashing them, I really wanted to like them, but in my area compared to AT&T they are hugely inferior.

Mine goes from like .1 mbps to around 1.5 mbps on speediest

but the internet works at a decent enough speed, i can stream pandora without any pauses for streaming.. the only problem is downloading apps. the app store could go a little faster

but really, i can just use wifi because i am around it constantly

i think if you are going for an individual plan, it is not worth it to save a few bucks by going with sprint. if you have a family plan, it is definitely worth it. my family of 4 has unlimited everything for $200.

Same as what my Epic 4G says... It's usable, Siri works and all...

Returned the phones.

Returned two sprint iphone 4S today. Was getting 0.5 - 0.9 mbps and I live in a metro area (Houston,TX). Switching to AT&T tomorrow. I get 23% discount on AT&T so that should lower my bill.

I have noticed all around town that Sprint is not doing to well. The speeds were just fine a few weeks ago.

I have a 3G/4G MiFi with Sprint. Have it for the unlimited 4G, which is surprisingly good here and at every airport/hotel I use when on business trips.

I started checking the 3G speeds after everyone started to complain. 3G speed and latency is terrible for some reason now. I guess the massive adoption of iPhones, plus all the Android phones have just wiped out the network.

I have an iPhone 4S with AT&T and the download/upload rates are awesome. They have improved over what my 3GS was getting.

If I only had the option of using my MiFi on 3G, I would be dropping Sprint. But the 4G speeds have been good for me, so I'll be keeping it.

I just pulled down 1.39Mbps with 69ms ping off my Sprint 3G... I think it's really just dependent on where you live. Sprint has done me well in the SF Bay Area, Sacramento, Portland, Seattle... I've never had problems. Been with them since '09 and have no intention of leaving. But hey, everyone has their own opinions right? Like me thinking AT&T can go suck it(seriously, when is dropping my call on a major freeway like I-80 5 times considered "reliable" service)

Sprint iPhone 4S on the Vegas Strip outside Bellagio (Notice that I cant even get 3G but even when I do I only get .12 down.)

People I know that have other 3G phones are doing normal speeds and 4G are ridiculously fast out here. Is it the iPhone+Sprint combo somehow?

ok im confused now........ should i stay or should i switch carriers, do you guys think sprint's data will get better

I'm on the verge of going back to AT&T as well but we are literally saving $100 a month on our new Sprint family plan (employer discount). So is saving $1200 a year worth it? Hmm..it's such a tough decision. I get about .56mbs and the rest of the family (in a different city) gets .02 to .12 mbp. It's useless for them.

WHAT THE HELL SPRINT?!

It really depends on your needs. Both Verizon and Sprint will experience slower data because of the limitations on EVDO, but I need a phone that I can actually talk on. Sprint and Verizon phone service destroys AT&T in the DC Metro area. Slower datas speeds are worth the sacrifice to have a phone that actually works.

Anyone here in NYC and can vouch for which of the three services provides best phone call quality?

I'm leaving Virgin Mobile for an iPhone and was going to go with Sprint (who uses the same towers as VM from what I understand). Have had no problems with calls on my VM. I don't really care about the data quality since I'm surrounded by wifi all the time.

Verizon is the company that touts being the service with "fewest dropped calls", yes? Or am I mistaken?

How often are you in an area that has wifi? I feel like 70% of the time, you will have wifi access, which will more than likely be better than 3g anywhere with any carrier.

the other 30% of the time.. would waiting an extra 5 seconds every time you want to do a web search be worth saving hundreds of dollars a year?

Yep they are really bad, I have a friend in SC who was with AT&T for years, but sent from a basic phone to Atrix, but did not get the unlimited, so he was going over the 2GB per month, and arguing with them about unlimited.

I thought He would have just been more careful but nope made a dumb move I tried to advise against, and he knew it.

Left AT&T to go Sprint just for the Unlimited Data, but I told him not worth it with their speeds and service.

What does he have now, Unlimited Data with a new smartphone on Sprint with unlimited txt and minutes, that is the good.

The bad is he hardly gets service anywhere he is there, and I told him what good is the unlimited data if he can not get service.

The situation, he is now fighting with them as he is into a new contract with Sprint 30+ days so they will not let him out, and he is going to have to leave and pay the ETF which he can not afford to do, so if he does not switch and pay the ETF, he will not get much service, so we will see but Sprint is not much help, all they say is they do provide service in Columbia SC???

We will see what happens, but so far everyone I know is complaining about their network speeds on the newer smartphones.

I don't know about the rest of you but I don't have to have access to data when I've got high speed at home and there are plenty of hotspots around if I HAVE to have data during the day. I can still receive and send email even when my Sprint speed is slow.

I went to Sprint for the iPhone and the money savings. The iPhone is a great phone even without data. My estimated savings with my family plan is about $600 per year over AT&T and about $1300 over Verizon. That means I'll save a bundle over the two year contract and it's worth giving up some speed for that.

BTW, like others have stated the speedtest results might say one thing but web pages load just fine.

i was with sprint a couple months ago and recently switched to at&t.

I switched primarily because i wanted to move to an iphone and determined that at&t is the best network for an iphone in my area. Verizon and Sprint simply can't compare, their 3g data speeds are abysmal in comparison.

Now if you've got an android device then verizon's lte and sprint's wimax are great options.

Even though the main reason i moved was because of a switch to an iphone the most pleasant surprise is that sprint costs relatively the same as at&t now that they charge all smartphone users an extra $10. Of course there are some of us that get very favorable discounts that make one carrier more cost effective than other but if your paying what everyone else is then sprint is on par with at&t.

I can't really say anything about verizon one way or the other but sprint is just the last option anyone would want considering all the issues that company has.

I've had ATT for years, well over eight. I've rarely had an issue. I've also had Sprint, I'll never go back. Their coverage is terrible compared to ATT and VZ. You may save $10 a month, but your phone doesn't work. $10 is two cups of coffee from Starbucks for some.

I'll stick with ATT.

Same here. I had Sprint about 11 years ago for 2 years. Since then I switched to AT&T and never looked back. Sprint sucks so much. Thats why they have been bleeding subscribers like crazy.
