Did you actually do the most sensible thing and call your carrier? No need to browse thread after thread just go to the source and ask your question.

Sometimes I worry.....

And no, they are not stealing from you, they are providing a service that you pay for. Don't like their service/cost, change to another carrier and try your luck with them.

So I think I've finally figured out what I want to do. I'm going to get a gpp sim (hopefully they'll have one for iOS 7 or an equivalent sim by then), flash to AT&T, then use H20 Wireless. They have an unlimited text and voice w/ 50 MB of data for only $30 a month. I figure that will be fine as long as I can check email/get directions/sync notes.

I'm reading that H20 uses the AT&T network. This should work right? I have to say I'm pretty jazzed at the prospect of taking $60 off my cell phone bill.

What do you mean flash to AT&T? All you need to do is sign up with a gsm cell service, insert their sim into the sim slot with the gpp and you're good to go more or less. And for $15 more you could go unlimited everything, why limit yourself to 50MB? That goes so insanely quick. Check out straight talk, or net10 they both run on the AT&T network also, just sayin.

No sir, you can't do that. Not while on Sprint anyway. They won't unlock for anyone unless you travel abroad.

As for data, granted I use probably 400-700MB a month on Sprint right now, but to me it's become a distraction as opposed to a necessity. The big allure for an iPhone at this point is: 1. always having a decent camera with me 2. always having my music collection with me. 3. having a way to check vital things like email and directions. Those are the things that are important to me.

Finally, H20 offers the cheapest plan for what I need. I'm well aware of T-Mobile's $30 plan (which beats them all honestly), but I'm looking at my personal needs at this point.

I am with Net10, but will drop them for a new AT&T based carrier: Airvoice Wireless.

Check them out. You can get a $30 unlimited talk and text plan with 100 MB data. better yet, their $40 plan comes with 1 GB of data and $10 worth of monthly international credit to call your friends abroad.

Good call man, 100MB is obviously better than 50MB and helps a lot for breathing room. I'll definitely check them out.
