Considering my 128GB Jet Balck 7+ did not ship until early December last year due to fubar Sprint store preorder, thinking of using the Apple Store app this time.
However, with a 250+ page preorder thread from the 7's launch, many here reported servers not being online for t-minus 3 hours after presell went live, that may not be a good option either, as Apple's servers would need to query Sprint to confirm upgrade/additional line (3rd option) eligibility....
As I'm a glutton for punishment, I did have a long chat Sunday, getting transferred around the entire office, trying to gleen some hope or useful information about the pending preorder and if they acknowledge the issues from last year and/or had any plans to do anything different.
    A
Small glimmer of light from one rep said that this year they will have live chat/order specialists that can step in and assist should issues arise:

Take that, as any conversation with lower level CSR's with a grain of salt, also knowing that if they come online 3 hours late again, it's small consolation.

With the reports that the new OLED device I'm after (X/Edition) being delayed, looks like I'll have an extended wait for my new device again.

The Apple event is live in an hour, so we'll know more soon.

Looking forward to hearing from you all what your plan is, hearing all the great experiences and commiserating when things go south...

I recall ordering both of my 7 plus Iphone's the day after they went on sale and received both of mine in early Oct (Matte Black & Rose Gold)

Unfortunately, I have not paid my phones off yet and plan on making a move from Sprint after 18 years to Verizon but will have to wait until Sept 2018. Good luck to those who are planning on going through the process again this year. You're more brave than I am.

With network vision buildout a few years ago, had amazing signal in SoCal at a very reasonable price for the family.
Since we have moved to podunk town in West Virginia, there really is no good option.
I'm on WiFi most of the time anyway, so not really a big deal.
I've also always been able to get great customer service when the issues do arise, although it can be an investment in time on occasion...

Great to see you here my friend, miss the halcyon days of EiC

Have you inquired about a MagicBox or an Airave 3?

    Last Year i ordered my 7P on Launch Night & Got my iPhone as expected Base Model 32Gb Gold..... I dont see any issues with the Launch seeing ass people who have been on carrier Plans for already 2Years will just jump to the 8 & 8P... As for the IX i see a good lineup for every carrier especially sprint Holding its iPhone Forever Plan & Flex Pay -- Their only going to have 2 Colors for the IX also so it might not be as poplular for for the girls as most expect it to be if the 8 & 8P have Gold still... We'll see;

    Happy camping till then

    "I see ass people..."

Right, but the MagicBox and the Airave are designed to work at home. Both put out an LTE signal but use your home network as backhaul to Sprint's network.

Both will improve LTE/3G reception and Sprint provides them free for places that have bad coverage.

Using WiFi is your choice of course, I'm just pointing out the alternatives Sprint itself provides to it's customers.

    Here we go again guys...

The 8 plus seems like a 7 plus with a rotated camera. So i think im going to wait and preorder the X on 10/27. Soooo if last years preorders are any indication, this thread will be my life until April 2018...

Looking forward to the hilarious rants tho!

Wrong. The Magicbox uses LTE backhaul and doesn't touch your home wifi connection or bleed off it etc.

Way back in the old days, I pre-ordered an iPhone 6 through Sprint and didn't have any issues with delivery or activation. Still am rockin' said phone now.

But the strange thing is -- I have yet to be spammed by Sprint with their offers. I have seen their Twitter feed announcing their pre-ordering of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. But nothing about the iPhone X or what plans they will offer (lease vs. buy, etc.)

I will probably wait for the iPhone X anyway. And hope there will be no snafu's going thru Sprint as well.

    Wow
    Finally watched the keynote.
Definitely in for an iPhone X

    Downsides:
With late release, if they are back on schedule in September next year, a lot of folks will have to wait or pay penalties.

    No 128GB version

I'll be waiting until early November for the X

    Upsides:
With late release, those that upgrade yearly will get a new device in just 10 months.

    256GB option

I waited until early December for my 7+, so will have new device after only 11 months.

We Sprint users will get to stand by on Friday while 8/8+ buyers beta this year's preorder process and see if what I was told is true or if they have made any positive steps in going live @ 12:01

I may order the X and skip the 8, having had the 6+, 6s+ and now the 7+...the 8 in the same form factor just doesn't do anything for me

I believe the 2 year contract option is available again for people who still have upgrades on grandfathered plans, at least on apple.com!

This is great news!!! I have the 6S now- could've upgraded to the 7 last year with the IPhone Forever plan- but didn't really have desire for the 7- instead finished the lease and bought the phone so it can be handed down to my daughter.

The X starting at $549 instead of $999 makes me feel a lot better about getting it! I don't mind keeping phone for 2 years at all! It's sooooo much cheaper in the long run- and you own the phone at the end!

The two year contract upgrade option never went away as long as you were getting it from Apple.

But that's the kicker here. You have to be on Apple's program and get it from them. It's not available anywhere else.

Only way to Preorder will be through the Apple Store App with all your info profile filled out way ahead of time. You will have zero time to fill out address and shipping info. Bots crash regular website even Apples. Also it's best to use a iPad since Apple servers Prioritize traffic from Apple iOS products gives you a leg up. My last advice I'd to make sure your bank and credit card are ready for a $1,000 purchase authorization at midnight so it's not flagged until verified then you lose your order as many here did last year. Last of all if possible add some headphones as a filler item in your cart so your traffic is different and you can always return the headphones later. You will also have maybe 10 to 15 seconds if you get in to pick a Device GB size color and Carrier there no going back, as many Soren losers cry about. You can only pick once if you change your mind and go back everything will be sold out.
