Sprint just announced a few days that NV is delayed, but will be done by mid-2014. This time frame is interesting because it is exactly when AT&T said they'll roll it out to 300 million POPs, ie their entire native coverage.

I have no problems believing that AT&T can do it, but will Sprint actually follow through on its promises?

Yeah, that was posted by Fierce Wireless.

As you can imagine, the refrain over at s4gru.com in response to this has been "Well, Sprint always said they'd be working on the rollout into 2014" and "Sprint already mentioned that they'd only be covering 200 million pops and not 250 million earlier this year, so this isn't news."

I'll just be interested in hearing what the excuse is in mid 2014 if Sprint misses the target.

Incidentally, there is now an overt acknowledgement by the higher ups at s4gru that Alcatel-Lucent has blundered in their markets.

<cough> Phoenix!

Meh. They said they'd have full nationwide LTE coverage by the end of 2013. Doesn't surprise me that they pushed it back.

I've gotten 3G speeds as high as 2.6 Mbs. They are getting better. Once LTE rolls out in your area you'll be thankful for unlimited data.

I'm still south of 500kbps on 3G. But now that LTE is finally here, there's hope.

Now, if they don't treat the West Valley like the red-haired stepchild like often happens, I hope to see it quite soon.

Finally! Congrats!

I just read an old article from a few years ago about AT&T's rollout and ALU was named one of their vendors too. No issues with delays there.
Thanks! Now, it's just getting them to put LTE on the towers I use. Phoenix is a wide area. :)

Does me no good if LTE is on towers in Chandler or Mesa, 20-40 minutes away!

Looks like it's actual work in PHX!!!

From a poster on s4gru.com, "One site is on Camelback just East of 19th Avenue, and the second site is on Bell Road just East of 42nd Avenue. More to come. We are supposed to have about 25 up in the next 3-4 weeks. If cox would get off their *** and do some work!"

Cox in this case would be Cox Communications, the local cable company and ISP. Guess Cox is providing the fiber optic backhaul.

I like where T-Mobile is going, but anyone on Sprint is just as pathetic as they are when there are so many better alternatives. For one, Sprint isn't GSM so they'll always have a very crappy 3G network to fall back on. In Verizon's case, this isn't so much of an issue, as they practically have LTE everywhere.

Sprint and T-Mobile are budget carriers for people who don't want to pay a premium for better service. I will add, I do like where T-Mobile is going. They are creating a lot of buzz in the wireless industry. What is Sprint doing? Join us and lock in useless unlimited data for life!!! Uh, no thanks.

Calling people pathetic for their choice in wireless carrier? Grow up

I'm going to be switching from Sprint after the new Iphone comes out.Fastest data speed in Erie,pa is 0.16 for 2 months.I had the phone checked I have a Iphone 4s checked it with Apple they said it is fine.Sprint always says no outages at the towers and never sends people to the towers. If I go to say Pittsburgh or Cleveland 1.30.I keep telling them it's not my phone but they don't believe me.I am very happy to get rid of Sprint.

I have lte!

I HAVE LTE!

19th Ave and Camelback! 16mbps up, 5mbps down!

This tower is about 15-20 minutes from my house, but it has LTE and Sprint will be going live with 25-30 more towers in my area in the next four weeks!

FINALLY! only took a few months lol

Enjoy those speeds while they last. Once more towers go up, LTE traffic will increase like crazy with all those Galaxys and iPhones in PHX

Yeah, I will! I know it'll slow down at some point, but that's ok. Even if I'm somewhere around 6mbps up that's just fine as it's better than this morning's speed test which is the average speed I've been at lately.

Look at the ping! Less than 100ms. But the download/upload is awful. To me that indicates that the upgrades have been done, but the 3G is still connected to the old T1s. This would be one of the towers by my house BTW.

Wow, 88ms is actually not bad at all.

So I'm officially done with Sprint. I've been a loyal subscriber since 2000. The service I get with them is exactly as the title says, "pathetic".

My iPhone 4S feels like I'm on a 56k modem 95% of the time. I can't even stream spotify without it stopping in the middle of a song for periods of 5-10 mins while it buffers... Who's got time for that?! I drop calls 5-6 times a day or just don't get them at all (I'm in sales so this is a huge issue).

My contract ended in July and work is going to give me a 22% discount on AT&T and all my friends and family who have them down here in SOFL love them. I used to be a huge Sprint supporter but they lied to me way to many times about vision upgrades and things have only gotten worse.

Kick rocks Sprint, I'm porting my number as soon as the iPhone 5S is released!

Sprint is nearly useless. Friend of mine got an iPhone 5. Was helping her out one night, and was trying to install an app on her phone. The App Store, safari, and Facebook were running so slow that I thought her phone may have been broken. This was with full bars and LTE. My phone running verizon with three bars was getting about 15 down at the time.

I wouldn't recommend Sprint to anyone unless they really aren't able to afford Verizon or AT&T. It's just so bad here.

I tend to agree. I'll give them credit that their planned strategy looks to finally make them competitive with Verizon and AT&T. The big question is how long will it take them to get it done. Sprint is notorious for promising and planning and always delaying and not delivering. We'll see.

I don't think are strong enough on executing to turn it around. Their magical "Vision" turned out to be snake oil and being bought out and fighting the Dish Network deal doesn't seem like good judgement. Their executive staff is clearly just looking to cash out.
