Well my city of 600,000 people has LTE so it should be working its way there ....

----------

That's what actually matters is the ones who pays the bills every month. We just so happen to pay Sprint ... Oh Well

I really don't understand why some are so defensive about it, if they don't like Sprint, it's their money, so they should take it elsewhere. They're the ones making the decisions.

You aren't the first person that says that. Hopefully you switch because I doubt they will fix anything.

Do you work for AT&T or Verizon? Lol. Alli know is a month ago I had horrible 3G and now I have constant LTE so something is getting fixed

Glad that Sprint is finally doing something for some of you. I have been with Sprint/Nextel from the beginning.. Was suckered into the "4G" hype when they were the FIRST to have a 4G phone (EVO 4G)...paid the "Premium Data" for 2 years, upon the promise that 4G would be in my area SOON....never happened. I like their "Unlimited data", but unlimited ****, is still ****....sorry..switched to Verizon. I would rather pay a little more and have something usable. There were other factors involved in our switch (Son in college with no Sprint coverage)....but who knows...maybe when they get their act together, I will switch back....

This is what did it for me http://http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/09/30/us-sprint-softbank-idUSBRE98T18D20130930

The SoftBank CEO public ally said that it is going to take 2 YEARS for Sprint to turn around! My contract is up, do I sign another and waste another two years being miserable with slow data and bad coverage or do I take one of the big 2 for a test run then reevaluate in two years? This is a no brainer. All you Sprint people, I've been there, defending Sprint. Promoting the hype around 800 mhz and 2.5 ghz TD-LTE, triband. Also telling your friends when you are stuck buffering a video stream, "I stick with Sprint for Unlimited data" and then they ask, what is it good for if you can't use. The 4s was my first Iphone and I know I didn't get the full experience with my lousy 3G data from Sprint. The 5s was just frustrating with the spotty lte coverage. No sense defending them anymore when a Sprint says they are going to continue to be sub par for two years.

I believe that was speaking more in terms of Sprint revenue and place in the market not so much about network improvements. The "new network" is expected to be nearly completed by June 2014. Regardless if you're not satisfied with your service with Sprint I wouldn't think twice of switching.

I understand this. And the fact remains I am not defending Sprint by any means. I know Sprint's 3G is awful, but if I never lose my LTE then I'm using my data with no problem. My phone never says 3G anymore. Anytime I look at it it's says LTE. As of now I'm standing in a spot at my work where I used to be in roaming and as you see from the screen shot I'm on LTE...

I'm not defending Sprint, but if my coverage is fine right now I don't need to switch... Shouldn't offend anyone as it's my choice

This is simple, if Sprint is great in your area- stick with them. If it isn't, move on. Plain and simple.

But stopping telling people that Sprint "sucks", just because you have issues while thousands of others don't. Again, in no way shape or form am I advocating that Sprint has better data service than other carriers because it doesn't.

However in my case, I still use voice quite a lot and in my area of NYC - ATT and T-mobile is horrible in that department. What good does great data usage do me when people can't clearly understand me on the phone.

Verizon is a different story, IMO - its the best of both worlds. Why I haven't switched yet? Who knows, I currently pay $245 for 4 lines with Sprint. Verizon would bring my bill to nearly $300.

So when people say "why not just change carriers" Its apples to oranges when comparing a $100-$150 plan to a $300 plan.

Also, I have no issues with Sprint LTE service here in my area so I have no complaints now.

Another thing I noticed is that Sprint's customer service seems to have gotten better..

Go where you think best. Just one thing for clarification before you leave though…

Masayoshi Son was speaking to investors about Sprint's financial condition. Investors want to know when they can expect to make any money when they invest in Sprint stock.

He was NOT talking about taking two years to improve the network! Sprint just got $8 billion from Softbank for the network this year. Next year they get another $8 billion.

But that aside, Network Vision HAS ALREADY BEEN PAID FOR. It was paid for from the beginning. The problems Sprint has been having is because local vendors have been super slow to deliver fiber optic backhaul to already upgraded cell towers.

I'm not defending the rollout, they could have done a whole lot better and they are more than a year behind. I'm just trying to correct a common misconception about this article.

Lol is like people get mad that you choose sprint.. Lol why do people care what the next person uses...

This was my whole point. I've been with them 9 years I know there 3G is trash. There LTE that I have on my area is not awful ... So I use it.

Yea same here there 3G was horrible last year but after network vision and lte being deployed i had no reason to switch... I never wanted blazing fast speeds that att lte delivers all i want from my phone is decent 10-15 lte speeds and sprint has delivered that in nyc so im a happy camper.. I'm not gona switch to get 40 down and no unlimted data.. I use 17 gigs a month on sprint on verizon and att i woulda be paying a arm and a leg. Actually i use more when u add in 3g

It's funny what we all consider to be bad 3G. The speeds you are showing for 3G is not anything I even come close to on 3G in my market. 3G in Phoenix is about 0.256kbps down and 0.5kbps up. My ping times are rountinely anywhere from 450ms to 700ms.

I don't get anywhere close to 2mbps down. The best I've been able to get at night on a decent tower is about 1.3mbps down.

3G is just hideous in Phoenix. Enough to barely stream anything and load a web page maybe, but not much more. LTE has made things so much better.

Yup before network vision i was getting those same speeds..

In my area my 3G is still bad, but I'm on LTE all the time so I don't worry with it. My LTE is very respectable and today I received a message from Sprint saying they were almost done updating everything and that my LTE speeds should be even better by the end of the month.

That's all I'm worried about. I don't need 65/25. I can live with 25/10 and be just as happy

To be honest, I'd be ok (not happy, but ok) with 2/1. That's 3G speeds of course, but it means I can stream and it's useable. That's ultimately what I wanted - useability, just to do what has been normal before the network went to hell. Not that I WANT that though.

I would love to have much higher speeds and I expect to get that however.

Oh I'd be happy with 2/1 after what we've been through. I also know the difference between getting 65/30 or 10/4 is not that noticeable to the eye. Kinda like if you put a 5 and 5s together you know the 5s is quicker, but watching it open a web page is not much different.

My 3G is great, average around 2/1 and LTE is averaging around 20/5 can't complain. All sub 60ms pings so it's even better, I used to think 1.5/500 on AT&T was good with 300ms pings. :p

Sprint isn't all that bad in my area, but whenever I visit my aunt & uncle who live just 20 minutes away my signal goes to complete crap with near unusable 3G speeds.

My 3G in NYC is still horrible. 0.00 to 0.20 Mbps speeds with 400-1300ms pings.

I can't comment on LTE, I have a 4S. But based on what I've heard, I don't think it's live in my area yet.

3G and LTE suck in Dallas. My contract is up on November 7th and I'm porting out the very same day.

You can port out on the first day of your last billing cycle, I called Sprint to confirm. I think ATT is probably the top carrier in D-Town.

Get a lte device most off all nyc has lte except for Staten Island or you can check the coverage map.
