Yes very laughable. The best is when they actually compare them to Verizon, the nation's #1 carrier.

These two carriers and their base deserve each other, as both refuse to listen to common sense and both have zero deductive reasoning skills. Both refuse to learn from independent studies or simply why their competitors have 3 times their subscribers.

Wow... Has anyone ever said Sprint has good 3G? I have not read or heard anyone say that. Sprints 3G is absolute garbage. So there's a big difference to the human eye between 10/2 and 65/25? No one has ever said AT&T and Verizon doesn't have better speed then Sprint. It's not even debatable. The fact remains that people has to resort to name calling to get there point across. Which is utterly ridiculous. I'm going to guarantee you that if you were where I live we could both make phone calls and get on the web and everything and not notice much difference. My LTE speeds is at 25/10 not 10/2. So where you get your numbers idk.

I know of Sprint's shortcomings. I know of there lies. I know all of this. I am not a "fan." I'm not making excuses for Sprint. All I'm saying is I have usable LTE and could care less about the 3G since I don't use it ... And it doesn't matter what carrier I am on. I'm sure it won't make you lose any sleep tonight.

I am thinking AT&T is going to be the way to go. When you aren't getting LTE you get HSPA+ speeds which are pretty much on par with Sprint's LTE. I think they are pretty close to Verizon now in terms of reliability and coverage. The simultaneous Talk and Surf feature combined with this report made me pick ATT over Verizon when I wised up and decided to ditch Sprint. http://www.rootmetrics.com/compare-carriers/united-states/austin/austin-tx-september-2013/

If you read any of my posts you will see that i have NEVER claimed that Sprint 3G is any good. It's always been garbage. I also don't have much good to say about Sprint's 3G network or it's customer service.

Whenever I compare Sprint to any other carrier I've always acknowledged the superiority of the other carriers networks.

But what does that have to do with the decent speeds and coverage I am getting right now. Why is it difficult to accept that I am getting decent speed and coverage on Sprint LTE. Do you think I'm lying? Why?

I make no apologies for Sprint. I've been banned from their forums because of my opinion about them and their God-awful 3G network and the complete f*up of Network Vision rollout. They are all a bunch of incompetents over there. But, hey LTE works for me where I am. For others it doesn't and again I have acknowledge the bad 3G network time and again.

Just because Sprint is bad in a lot of places doesn't mean it's bad where I am and I make and have not made any claim that just because it's good where I am it's great everywhere - it ISN'T! Continually refusing to accept what I'm saying and labeling me an apologist in the face of evidence that shows otherwise just because someone hates Sprint shows a disconnect somewhere in the thinking.

So fine. Show me anywhere on these forums where I have EVER stated that Sprint 3G was great anywhere and where I have apologized for Sprint's shortcomings. If you can't find anything then maybe there isn't anything there.

I'm loading Facebook, Cydia and web pages. I occaisonally text and use iMessage. How does 65/25 do that better than 10/2? Yes, your speeds are better. I don't deny that. I just wonder how much faster I can browse Facebook with 65/25 than I can with 10/2 is all.

Even with Sprint's poor 3G I've never had very many dropped calls or anywhere that there has been no service. Extremely bad and unusable data, yes, but I've always been able to make a call. From home, from work and from other places. And now I have LTE at home as well.

Blazing speed is great. Just explain to me why it's going to make my browser work faster and my apps load quicker than 10/2 please.

It's great to have, but believe it or not, not everyone NEEDS it. I just need useable and that's what I have right now.

See the problem with some folks is that they are so caught up on specs sheets and speed test that they miss the obvious. What is the obvious you ask? It's the fact that sometimes specs and speed test have very little impact on user experience. A web page can open only so fast on a phone and 10/2 is more than acceptable speeds for me mobile wise.

I mean seriously, if people want to pay more money a month just to post speed test results on the internet, more power to them. I like getting more bang for my buck.

You tell them Black Magic. There is nothing wrong with paying for crappy service to save some money. :)

I have one friend that spends more time checking his speeds than he does actually using his phone to do anything else….. this has struck me as more than a bit ridiculous and pointless. I suggested he get a new hobby, since I've heard crochet can be fulfilling.

And just a random fact…..

It is well known to anyone who has studied human behavior, that those who must attack someone else's choices in life are doing so, because they feel insecure regarding the choices they've made in their own.

I only checked my speeds when Sprint would take ten minutes to load a simple web page. I admit it's stupid for me to do that, as I can tell how slow it is.

Some if us don't run speed tests to see how fast we are, but to see how bad our connection actually is.

For around $250 more over 2 years, you go from acceptable to excellent.

You go from Sprint's 1.2/0.5 (up/dl) 3G speeds or 10/2 Sprint LTE to 65/25 with AT&T or Verizon. To having actual nationwide coverage, to being able to make calls within any building or even a basement. That is what this $250 over 2 years buys.

Oh please!!! When Verizon is able to deliver adequate service to Lower Manhattan, NY, come talk to me. Like everyone here has said, your area and my area is different. Not one company works everywhere.

Why does people with Verizon or AT&T feel that they need to boast about their carrier. I just don't understand. Everyone needs are different.

Exactly! I'm the one paying the bill every month. Even my son doesn't ask why we use Sprint, he just enjoys his iPhone.

It's great to have, but believe it or not, not everyone NEEDS it. I just need useable and that's what I have right now.

For starters, I don't have a problem with your opinion. It's easy to feel that everyone is attacking you when more than one person disagrees. This isn't some pathetic sprint or tmobile forum, so you don't need to worry about this here.

You also missed my points that Sprint's management has made some major miscalculations and quite frankly ridiculous decisions. Heck, these two carriers (sprint & tmobile) didn't even purchase on any of the useful and chronically needed lower 1GHZ spectrum. That was a choice and a very poor one, as was setting up WIMAX on an even worse frequency.

The thing about your last point is that it covers what I just said myself. That Sprint has the weakest network, yet continues to offer "unlimited", a product that over 200 million wireless US users do not want. Sprint's not even cheap when compared to the other carriers. The average wireless user does not need or want unlimited data, yet sprint continues to push this at the detriment of their network and even pricing structure.

Worse off, both Sprint and T-mobile have invested little to nothing in expanding their networks. This is why both Verizon and AT&T are making money hand-over-fist, will these two carriers beg cap-in-hand.

Booted up my new Note 3 on T-mobile this week and saw (E) and even (G) for the first time in years. I live around a 1 mile from the edge of the DC metro area. Sprint here averages around 0.5k and root metrics ranks them essentially useless in the DC area. Even if I heard this from someone in Wichita, I'd think WTF.

Higher throughput is not about petting one's ego or some sort of pissing contest. It greatly impacts a user's experience; it greatly improves battery life. Again, their robust networks ensure that I can make and receive a call while I am in a building for example, which for Tmobile and Sprint is still a hit or miss.

----------

People are frustrated at the BS from both Sprint and Tmobile, who have been doubling-down on this over the last few years. These two carriers will do and say anything, yet not spend a single dime in growing their puny and inadequate networks.

What makes the rests of us angry is that we want some choice, however, these carriers have an army of folks who will defend anything. Therefore, they have zero reasons to improve. What's bizarre is that folks will defend this, even when they themselves are suffering because of it all.

Then again, we see this in politics too, with Middle-America. One can go to the crappiest state in America and there will be an army of fools who will claim it's the best or who cares what ya'll think. Again, failing to grasp that this very attitude is why their ****-kicker state is ranked dead last in everything.

I haven't studied psychology but it sounds like denial and projection is some sort of reaction to reality.

I just thought I would throw my two cents into this thread and tell my Sprint sob story:

I switched to them in March of 2012, and was decently happy with the service. Their 3g was slow - downright laughable compared to AT&T's 3g, but about on par with Verizon.

Anyways, never had a good signal at work - would end up roaming on Verizon 1x all day. When I moved closer to my office, dramatic change in speed for me. Could never manage more than .30 mbps - ever. Even had my device replaced by Apple, per Sprint's suggestion - just awful. Despite what everyone in this thread is saying, it did equate to a bad user experience. I couldn't browse social media, upload photos, play a youtube video, browse the web beyond google searches - it was like being back in 2004.

Anyways, months of this tortured love affair go by. I'm calling Sprint, tweeting them, sending screenshots showing full bars but disconnection errors, etc. Not once did anyone bother to credit my account for any of the problems I'd been having. So starting in August of this year, I bugged them over and over to let me out of my contract. They wouldn't let me. I went all the way up the chain to their dan@sprint.com customer service, and no one would listen to my wishes to be released.

I finally gave up and filed my notice of dispute (the first step in the legal process) in early September. They have 45 days to come to an amicable agreement with me. I've asked for all my money back, as well as the device costs, and compensation for all the time they have wasted. In the mean time, I've cancelled both lines (incurring $280 of ETF's) and have moved to AT&T, where I'm very happy.

If we don't come to an agreement, we go to arbitration. However, I can sidestep the arbitration process and go straight to small claims court, which I will be doing. How? One word: Misrepresentation.

Based on Sprints 3G speeds and coverage map, I'll file a misrepresentation claim. Look at your state laws, and you'll see (in most) that a filing for misrepresentation nullifies any contractual legal proceedings and allows you to take them directly to court, where they are not allowed to use an attorney.

I look forward to my $3,000 check.

Some points.

The first bad decision was Gary Forsee. Forsee ran the place until late 2008. He allowed the network to deteriorate, made the bad decision to buy Nextel and the board replaced him with Dan Hesse, who himself is not the greatest.

But Hesse inherited Forsee's mess. He also inherited the fact that Sprint had no cash and was near bankruptcy. Then the FCC came calling. The FCC told Sprint that it either had to use it's spectrum licenses or lose them. LTE was a concept at that time, but Clearwire had Wimax and was rolling it out. Hesse either had the choice to go with WiMax or lose the spectrum licenses. Hesse chose WiMax. Which would you choose?

By the time Sprint got ANY money together it was behind. But Network Vision is already paid for. Everything Sprint is doing to modernize the network and rip out and replace over 38,000 towers is paid. The problem is how the nitwits in corporate rolled the damn thing out and problems with local vendors not delivering fiber optic backhaul on time. This has put Sprint is a bad spot, not least of which is due to their own management's incompetence.

I've been a customer with Sprint for a long time. So, I never believe a word out of their mouth. They will always lie to get business because that's the kind of culture that has filtered down from management to staff. It's baked in by this point.

So, yeah, poor decisions and incompetent management. Things are getting done, but it's so damn slow that we have all of these issues because of that.

Lastly, I disagree on unlimited. If no one wanted it there wouldn't be any poor SOBs moving to Sprint only to find out they are stuck on 3G.

I totally disagree with noone wanting unlimited data service. I can't imagine there are people out there that would prefer to pay for a tiered data plan versus having an unlimited plan where they do not have to worry about overages. It's a ridiculous statement to make.

Depends on who is the provider is. Some would rather have tiered data if they get fast connections and can use it anywhere. Not unlimited "dial up" speeds aka Sprint.

It's really quite sad how far behind Sprint fell. First with 4G (Wimax), last with nationwide LTE... My city of 200,000 people still doesn't have LTE officially (it's live, but sporadic)

Yah I hear you. My city has 300k plus and they don't have Sprint LTE. AT&T, Tmobile and Verizon all have LTE. Granted Verizon is the best here, but they all now offer LTE. Except for Sprint. Sprint should only be sold at yard sales and indoor swap meets. :D

There is one case I am aware of from the Sprint BAW forums where a customer took Sprint on in regular court. Not small claims.

Sprint's contract states that you cannot sue them and that you have to go to arbitration. However, this person took them to regular court because he believed that that contract is unenforceable. He won.

So, the contract is BS, but you have to have deep enough pockets to fight them in regular court if you want to win. But you can win should you be able to do so.

Most people either don't have deep enough pockets or don't want the hassle.

It's my understanding that Masayoshi Son has instituted a policy now whereby CSRs performance are based on customer satisfaction and not whether a problem was "solved" or not.

If that filters down and sticks (I hope) we could see some change.

I've never had that type of problem. I know they are slower than the other carriers, but my stuff all loads and I have no problem sending messages, of any type.

You must be in a very bad area, I know they still have some that they haven't updated in quite awhile.
