Thanks for the info. I called my local Sprint store and they had 8 of the cables in stock. I picked up 2 with the 20% discount. Now I don't have to wait weeks for apple to get them in and I got them at a lower price. :)

I found this out on accident when my sister and I both picked them up. Definitely happy about the discount!

True, but you ARE an idiot if you buy $50.00 Chinese junk tires for it. Perhaps a better analogue, as the cable is an important part of the iPhone ecosystem.
Right, but when you need to replace the tires then you likely arent buying the dealers tires when you can get better choices (and quality) from 3rd party. :D

Okay, I apologize from bringing in the car metphor because this discussion is better suited to just be 1:1. And the truth of the situation is that iPhone users have never been forced to buy 1st party ONLY because there was an existing 30pin ecosystem long before the iPhone. And lets face it, Apple isnt known for making great, long lasting cables so $20 is a bit steep regardless of whats inside of it. :D

BTW. I just bought 4 cables at sprint. Just because I can afford it doesnt make me feel good about it because in the end it cost me $70 just to get my charging situation to match what I've had for the last 5 years with 30pin.

i still refuse to pay 34$ for 2 plastic cables.

I work minimum wage and not spending a chunk of my paycheck for some flimsy cables

You could just say you don't know anything about these cables. Even if it wasn't apparent to everyone reading your post.
If you make minimum wage you shouldn't be buying a smartphone to begin with.

Is it only Sprint customers that get the 20% or can I just walk in off the street?
I'm with AT&T.

Some people got lucky and walked in and asked for the the cables and the 20% discount and Sprint did so without flinching (myself included).

My store only had two left and they did honor the 20% off even though I'm on Verizon. :D

My store was corporate tech store and had over 30 in stock. I am on straight talk for $45 per month with unlimited min, unlimited text and 2gb of HSPA+ data. Sprint with crapshoot lackluster unlimited dialup service had no issue selling the cables. Hopefully they still made a profit on them, I know apple did for sure....

By your statement, I believe it is fair to assume that you purchased an iPhone 5...WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS??? The iPhone 5 isn't priced for the minimum wage budget. Just sayin.

My parents still pay for my phone bill. I paid for the iphone. I worded that wrong.

During school I only work Saturdays & Sundays so my paychecks are only like 160$.

I pay no bills, its all net $$.

Thanks for the heads up. I picked up 3 from a local Sprint store in Orange, CA. 2 for me and 1 for our IT guy at work. I'm actually with Sprint but they never asked me if I was. 3 cables came out to $51.70 after tax. They were out of stock a week ago.

I went back to work and cancelled my apple.com order for one cable with $4 shipping. I had ordered it a week ago and it still hadn't shipped from China :)

I can honestly say I'm sick to death of all the sniping at people on this forum regarding how they choose to spend their cash.

So he works a minimum wage job and he has an iPhone, so what? He works, he gets to choose how he spends his money!

There's nothing wrong with someone making minimum wage and buying an iPhone 5.. the problem is there are people who have minimum wage and are on government assistance and have starving kids and buy iPhone 5. But if he's not one of the above, who cares? Lots of people sacrifice owning a home to rent an apartment in a nice large city like San Francisco or New York. Lots of people give up smoking to support their Starbucks habit, and many people carry Louis Voutton (sp?) bags and in trade don't eat out as often. A budget should be responsible without depriving someone of their wants in life. . . as long as I'm not paying for it as a taxpayer, I don't care, hah.
