I'm sure there is a very simple and logical answer to this question, but for some reason I am completely missing it.

What is the difference between the 'Spy' and 'New Posts' views?

I understand (and can see) that Spy shows a scrolling and actively updated listing of new posts as they are made.

New Posts would seem to be providing that same information, but it obviously is not.

Spy shows individual posts.

New Posts shows threads that have been most recently replied to.

If a thread receives 5 new replies in a row, in Spy each post will appear individually. In New Threads, the thread will simply appear on top once, with a last replied timestamp of the most recent reply.

Got it, thanks! Does New Posts also update itself in real time, or does the page need to be refreshed (that is what seems to be the case)?

It is frequently interesting to take a look at the Spy view, to see how active the site is and what discussions are going on.

nah, new posts doesn't update in real time. You have to refresh it.

Home takes you to new posts now. Tho I can see how that’s not ideal.

I've added it back in a drop-down in Home.
