Someone mentioned Square Trade here. I looked them up, and according to their website if you get their insurance plan, they will replace broken screens? Has anyone used them and had their screen replaced?

Upon further review there is a 50 dollar deductible for drops. I was doing some other research and saw one place that fixes screens for 80 bucks. Not sure if it worth it or not.....

More importantly, if you drop it in the toilet, which seems to be epidemic these days, they'll pay for the phone, minus the deductable. I use SquareTrade, Apple Care is pretty worthless on it's own, let alone compared to SquareTrade.

Just remember SquareTrade will now only pay up to $499 for the 3Gs 32GB, not the full unsubsidized replacement price of $699 you will have to pay. But still it's better than any other warranty/insurance for the iPhone out there right now.

Not true. Check with state farm. i am paying $39 for insurance.

What kind of coverage are you getting? Let's say you dropped and cracked the glass on the iPhone. How much will it cost you to replace the glass?

thanks in advance

Sorry, forgot to add the details:

Covers loss, damage of any kind, theft, and that's it to my knowledge.

It's insured for $600- the cost of my 16GB iPhone 3GS without a contract.
best of all- no deductible.

I just spoke to an agent from State Farm after reading your post here. I am being quoted $30/year with a $100 deductible. But it covers loss, theft, damage, ....

I am going to do it, the only thing is I am going to ask to make sure they pay the whole $699 if I need a new one. Not the $499 like Squaretrade.

Also, not sure on turnaround time, but I made one claim in the past with State Farm, and they were great about everything.

ask them what the rate would be for no deductible. should just be a little more. 40 something possibly.

OK, I was wondering about that. I will ask them. They want a receipt, any idea if that means they only cover the amount I paid? I wouldn't think so, but just wondering. Anyway, thanks.

i specifically asked for it to be insured for the $599 price for my 16GB. They wanted to see the receipt, and get the serial number of the phone.

Just double/triple check about things dealing with the insurance. They will help. State Farm is good.

One thing that someone mentioned to me in another thread about insuring the iPhone with your home insurance policy is if you only get coverage for incidents that occur on your home property. That's a good question. What if you are on a trip and break it?

I called my State Farm agent, He said it depends on the region you live in because not all regions will insure the IPhone. Unfortunately they won't insure IPhones in the minneapolis area.

i have squaretrade on my new 3gs 16gb. If anyone wants to use me as a referral, let me know. I think u get 20% off.

Square trade

Have had both the 3g and 3GS phones insured with Square Trade. Covers accidental damage too. Can cancel at any time so no risk.

PM and and I will send the info along with confirming a 20% discount.
:)

Squaretrade has a 30% coupon for today "JULY04". This brings the price of the 32gb 3GS warranty down to about $100 for 2 years coverage.

I'm trying to use this at the order summary page where you enter the code, nothing happens when I click "Apply Coupon".

Anybody having any luck?
