Now that we know what the series 5 offers, are you guys upgrading or keeping your series 4 for another year? The only thing I find interesting in the series 5 is the new screen but is it higher resolution/much better than the one on the series 4? (I don’t care about the screen being on all the time), no other standout feature struck out to me other than the new screen to make me want to upgrade personally

It looks like the SS S4 is worth only $10 more than the aluminum S4, despite the retail price being almost 2x (IIRC). People going from a SS S4 to an S5 are going to want to find a better deal. Not that I can see much reason to get a S5 if you've got a S4.

I do a lot of running and cycling. I absolutely NEED that Always On Display.

Definitely upgrading from my series 4. It helps that the series 4 is so easily sellable on eBay and Swappa to get some money back.

What made you want to upgrade in particular?

I’m a gadget freak and my company pays for it - good for tax (self-employed).

Edit: but...there was no major technical reason though. I like the always on display but its certainly not a game-changer for me personally. If it wasn’t for my business I wouldn’t have upgraded this time around.

Is the new screen higher resolution?

But in the presentation I heard that he said the screen is some high tech screen that can lower its hertz from high to low to reserve battery life and what not, so you’re saying the screen is the same as the screen on the series 4? I honestly could care less about the always on screen feature but if the screen is higher res and nicer then it’s a different story

I believe that the Hz figure is simply the refresh rate. Lower Hz would promote longer battery life.

I don't think i'll be upgrading my S4 space black. the new titanium finishes look interesting but i don't know what they look like. I always loved the silver SS and that it stands out more then Space black but hate the fact that it scratches (i know i can polish it out but know myself that i'm too lazy) hence the space black. Its been rock solid. Looks brand new. The silver titanium looks interesting. the price though for upgrading for the always on screen isn't worth it.

Is the SS series 5 polished or matte? I cannot tell from the pictures. How much is Apple offering on trade-in for S4 SSSB?

Absolutely not. Given that the "always-on" feature couldve easily been on the S4 just by software (probably the main reason to talk about an 18hr battery life vs. whatever more we get now on the S4 44mm without that feature).

I don't think so. Always-on sounds great, but I can't think of a situation where I've lamented not having it. A flick of the wrist does the trick. Plus, a Series 4 Stainless Steel only gets $110 of trade-in value, which I find to be way too low. I'll keep this S4 SS and upgrade next year.

That’s not the resolution. The screen is the same size and resolution, plus variable refresh rate.

I have a SS Series 0, and, after all of these years, you still only see the scratches when you look up close. It's like any other steel watch, even an $8K Rolex, with polished finishes. The light shines off of it and it looks good from a distance, but lots of scratches are just a part of life when looking up close. I wouldn't worry about it.

Ive order a Space Grey Titanium, not sure I'll keep it tho. Tempted to keep my SSSB and ket the new Hermès strap for a new look

I got a $205 trade-in quote from Sell Your Mac on my Series 4 SS Space Black.

I put an order in for a Series 5 SS Space Black, but honestly, I don't know if I am going to keep it.

Nothing drastically different about this watch other than the always-on screen.

It is supposed to be 2x faster than the series 3 with the new processor, but not sure how much faster than the S4 (unless it shares the same processor as the S3)

I'm happy with AW4 in fact I like the idea to raise up my wrist to look at it everyday!

Who really need Always-On Retina display :D
