SS Space Black Bands?

Sorry, I don't understand the question. What is "SG SS apple watch".

If SG is "space gray", that color only comes on the aluminum sport watch. The color is dyed into the surface when the watch is anodized. No DLC coating on the aluminum.

The stainless steel watch comes in space black (not gray). The black color is DLC.

Yeah, I expect the Space Grey Sport to get scratched up quite a bit. The Space Black steel Watch should be highly scratch resistant, if they did the DLC as they should.

That's the main concern I have, because we won't know until people have been wearing them for a while. It should be fine. They'd have to really screw up to make a poor DLC coating that's really thin or something.

No need to wait for wear and tear, all we need is someone to try scratching theirs to test it - they could do it on the inside of the band where scratches won't matter. Gotta wait for the watches to ship, though.

I’m actually (almost) fine with just purchasing the Space Black SS watch with the link bracelet and then getting another band, but only the link bracelet is Space Black as well. All the other bands come with silver SS accents aside from the leather loop… which isn’t an option since I am looking at a 38mm watch.

You can get the black sports band with the space grey pin, which should be pretty close.

No, it's called diamond-like carbon, DLC, for a reason. Do the research. I've seen guys on watch forums take keys, knives, etc., to their DLC watches, writing things on them with scratches, only to be able to wipe it right off, because it's not actual scratches, but, rather the brass and steel from the keys/knives being left on the surface.

Assuming Apple did their DLC like other good companies, this will be the most scratch resistant of all the Apple Watches.

Your friend's Sub has a ceramic bezel, which is very different.

Impressive but I still will "watch" to see what happens here.
