That "retarded" edition means that OCZ can put an official Mac sticker on the drive. I think there are some fees to Apple involved for this (also that some Apple guy "officially" tested the drive and said it's alright to use in a Mac).
That is called the "Apple Tax". 😀

But I agree with you that the whole idea is stupid, as the normal Vertex and the Mac vertex is the exact same drive besides a sticker.

Intel doesn't bother, I'm not sure why OCZ does.

In my opinion the Vertex and Intel drives are essentially on equal footing. For my Macbook Pro I chose the Intel drive to get more space and the 250GB Vertex was a bit pricey for my taste.

more expensive, less space, new unproven controller (looks good, but who knows how it hold up), and most important, no current MBP supports SATA 3, and who knows if the new ones will either....and that's where the C300 gets alot of its competitive advantage right now.

So, sharkzfanz, which SSD did you end up going with? I am considering to buy one of the same ssds in your poll, and it looks like the Intel has been the front runner. However, $430 bucks is still quite expensive for an ssd.

I am glad this poll was helpful to someone.. Someone asked why ask for so many votes and I was like hell the more the better hehe..

I think I am going with intel but pondering C300 from Crucible. I am ordering the new MBP or the old one around and of this month or when the new one comes and will have my final decision around then since I have no use until then.

LOL, we are both in exactly the same situation then. Haha! I too am waiting for the new MBPs to make my absolute final decision. Hopefully, the price of the Intel drives also drops a little by month's end.
