I have seen several out there but does anyone have a recommendation for a cradle fitting
so as to fit an SSD drive card into a mid 2009 Mac Pro desktop ?

My first SSD, a 128GB Kingston 2.5" SATA, I found that I could simply plug it right in and put away the HD tray. It leaves the SSD hanging a bit, so I placed a matchbox under it for support. This was on my 2008 Macpro. Worked fine.

Later I got a sonnet dual ssd adapter PCIe card, and put my next ssds there, and got much faster performance from them.

I recommend OWC trays.

I have seen several times the prints making trouble, those trays have direct connection.
Plus, you have a spare tray, after that. If you sell it you could be even.

Downside: Sometimes the lock bar stucks a little, if that happens one must modify the OWC tab a bit. Have seen two times the lock bar broke. Its a hell of a job to fix a broken bar. And you need to get it from a donor case.
German board, but the picture tells enough.

Liking the OWC one, thanks for the pointer on that.

I second the OWC blue trays.
I have 3 in my cMP.

You can get them from Amazon also.

as said, sometime you need to work on it with a file on this area, if the lock does not move easily. After 2 broken lock bars, it got my attention:
